I had no time to react as the two dogs rammed into me sending me down on my butt as they started barking sniffing me trying to lick at my face or ask for scratches. Michael shot up from his bed rushing over to my side Grabbing one of their collars pulling them back and nudging the other away.

"Hunter! Prince! go lay down!" he shouted as they both stop trying to grab at my attention lowering their heads and tails walking back over to a corner of his room where their beds rested. my heart melted at the sight wishing I could give them all the love in the world without being squished in the process. Michael led his hand out as I took it in mine pulling myself back up to my feet. "What are you doing here (y/n)?"

"I wanted to know why you had a fight with Michael" I said taking a seat on the edge of his bed as hunter and prince started wagging their tails resting their heads on my lap. Michael let out a sigh taking a seat next to me as everything grew quiet for a minute.

"He was being an asshole"

"Well, that's not surprising" I mumbled under my breath. it still wasn't the exact answer I was looking for I couldn't push it through watching Michael face grow a bit angry.

"I shouldn't have picked a fight with him, but I got so angry in that moment"

"I tried to warn you about him"

"I should have listened now I'm stuck here and can't see you"

"I'm sitting right in front of you"

"I mean at school"

"I know but don't worry about it soon you'll be back at school then we can hang out in school but why were you hanging out with Moose in the first place?" I asked running my hand over Hunter head as he started wagging his tail licking my hand. Michael grew silent once again. maybe I shouldn't have asked. I got up off the bed petting Prince and hunter head walking to the door turning my head back. I wasn't going to leave yet but I was going to give some time to give Michael some time to think or to tell me he didn't want to talk about it. I made my way downstairs to the kitchen hoping that maybe I could get a snack when I almost ran into his grandma as she stood by the counter mixing around some dough.

"Hello sweet child, do you want some cookies" she spoke in a warm tone turning to look over at me as strands of pure white hair falling in front her face.

"Okay thank you Michael grandma"

"Oh, child please call me Mary" she said taking bits of the dough laying them over on a cookie sheet "do you like chocolate?"

"yeah"

"Would you be a dear and grab them, there in the cupboard" she said pointing a fragile finger to where they were. I made my way over opening the cupboard looking around finding a bag filled with chocolate chips. I got on my tie toes as I reached my hand out gripping the side of the bag pulling it back setting it on the counter next to Mary as she looked my way. "Pick how much you want to put in"

I grab the bag once again pouring it on the tray as she stepped back giving me some room as I took a handful placing a few on each top but Mary shook her head.

"We can have a little more child just don't tell my daughter in law" she said putting a finger to her lip as I couldn't help but smile pouring a bit more on each top before putting the bag back as she took the tray popping it into the oven and setting a timer. "Come with me child"

she started walking out to the living room as I wondered if I should follow after her or not as I decided to walk after her as she took a seat on the couch. I took a seat on the recliner slightly rocking a bit as she picked up the remote turning the tv on. I sat there in silence as Mary switch through the channels pulling up the weather channel. Hunter and Prince came running down sitting next to my feet as I smiled jumping off the recliner petting them both giving them all my love and attention.

"You must have a good soul child normal the dogs growl at anyone beside the family"

"Thanks" I mumbled cuddling with the dogs a bit as I stayed downstairs slightly waiting for Michael to come down any moment. then the time beep as I jumped up a bit in Suprise at the sudden loud noise. Mary got up to her feet walking towards the kitchen as I got up following after her as my stomach growled. the aroma of melted chocolate filled my lungs as Mary shut the oven off pulling out the tray as chocolate was running over the top down the side of each cookie.  we stood in the kitchen for a while as she waved her hand around cooling them down a bit before handing me one as I took a bite. my eyes grew wide as I took a couple more cookies eating them. "Wow this is so good!"

"Thank you, child, it's a family recipe"

"Well, their amazing could I take some home?"

"of course," she spoke picking up a paper bag for me pouring half of the cookies before handing it over to me then we went back into the living room as the weatherman went on saying there a breaking news of a snowstorm coming. I guess it was time for me to go. I looked over by the staircase wondering if I should go up to tell Michael goodbye, but he still hadn't come down to talk to me and I had to leave now if I wanted to make it home.  "don't worry about Michael child I'll tell him you had to go home"

"Thank you, Mary" I said grabbing my coat pulling it over me picking my bag up as I opened the door almost being taken aback by the chilly air shoving into me as I took a deep sigh plunging out to the freezing cold stumbling back home.
