chapter one hundred forty-two

I let out a yawn as I stood behind the counter rubbing at my eyes a bit. I knew I should have gotten more sleep last night, but I just had to finish one more chapter. Another yawn escaped my lips as I walked around the store to keep myself awake before I heard the door ring behind me followed by a cheerful voice.

"Hi (y/n)" Donna said, making her way over to me.

"Hi Donna" I said, turning my attention to her.

"You, okay?" she asked, pointing out the bags under my eyes.

"Yeah, just couldn't put this good book down" I said with a slight smile holding back a yawn.

"What book was it?" she asked quickly.

"Into the dream by William Sleator, it's about these two people having the same nightmare so their working together before that dream becomes a horrible reality."

"Sounds interesting" Donna said with a small smile. I knew she wasn't a real big fan of anything close to horror unlike me and Griffin, but she didn't mind.

"So how are you and your bf?" I asked with a slight smirk. Her face quickly started to turn red as she gave a nervous giggle running her hand through her hair.

"Everything going amazing, yesterday he took me on a picnic date then we went to the theater to watch ice castles, then after the movie was over, we shared a kiss" she said her smile growing bigger as she kept going. I couldn't help but giggle a bit while shaking my head as I heard the door ring again. I turned my attention to the door noticing Vance walking in as he nodded his head to us placing a quick kiss to my cheek before walking to his precious pinball machine putting a quarter in.  I just shook my head turning my attention back to Donna. 

"I'm happy for you two" I said with a smile. 

"Thank you (y/n)" she said wrapping me into a tight hug as I wrapped my arms around her hugging her back. after a minute we pulled away from each other when I noticed more people walking up to the store. I rushed off to the counter. Donna gave me a quick wave goodbye before walking out the store. 

by the time the clock hit twelve pm I was already exhausted ringing up items one after the other, cleaning up two spills of coca cola and Vance asking me for just a few more quarters. I was in the back room taking a seat behind the desk writing down my schedule for next week when I heard the door ring, I quickly folded the piece of paper shoving it down in my pocket as I made my way out. 

"(y/n)" a familiar voice said. I looked up to notice that it was Griffin. 

"Hi babe" I said walking over to him giving him a kiss on the forehead as I wrapped my arms around him. he pulled me into the hug reaching on his toes to place a kiss on my cheek as he gave me a small smile. "Let me guess grabbing some snacks?"

"Nope, I wanted to ask you something" Griffin said still giving me a small smile.

"What is it?" I ask with slight concern lingering in my voice. 

"Me and the others were going to movie theater, and I wanted to know if you like to join or not."  

"of course, I would like to join but why wouldn't I?" I asked tilting my head a little. 

"Because it's a scary movie."

"Babe did you forget I read Stephen king?" I ask with a slightly giggle as Griffin shook his head a bit. 

"I didn't but-"

"No buts I'm still joining" I said kissing his cheek watching his face turn a little red. 

"okay" he said kissing me before walking out the store. I turned my attention to Vance who was still playing the pinball machine. I made my way over to him tapping his shoulder to signal him I was there. 

"Hey Doll" Vance said not taking his eyes off the machine. 

"Babe, I have a question."

"hm" 

"Do you know anything about the movie were seeing later?" 

"Only that it has horror, Griffin and Robin are keeping it a secret." he said taping on the buttons a bit. 

"okay" I mumble walking off to the counter while my mind started to wander as I could feel my stomach swirling a bit, but I quickly pushed it away when more customers came in as I help them out.  

by the time my shift ended I raced off to the back to grab my coat while Vance was waiting for me as he stood by the entrance. 

"Come on doll" Vance said with a slight smirk as I made my way over to him throwing the coat over me.

"You can wait" I said reaching my hand out to him. he took my hand in his as we made our way out the grab and go heading down the street in the silent night. I felt Vance pull his hand away from mine letting his arm wrap around my waist instead as he pulled me close to his side. I couldn't help but blush a bit while resting my head against his shoulder.

when we got to the movie theater the others were already waiting for us. Vance pulled his arm away from me to greet the others while I ran up to them giving them a hug and a kiss on the cheek or forehead. I found myself walking around looking at the movie poster while the others were buying some snacks. while I was looking at the poster, I noticed only two horror movies playing the Amityville house and alien.  

"Darling you ready?" Bruce asked with a bright smile holding his free hand out while the other was holding two bags of popcorn. 

"Yes" I said smiling back to him as I took his hand in mine walking along with him. we all quickly rushed in just as the movie was starting as Vance suggest we should all sit up front, but Finn quickly shut that idea down and I didn't want to sit up front because I was slightly nervous, but I wouldn't admit that as I tighten my grip on Bruce hand a little so instead, we sat in the middle of the row thankful there was enough seats for all of us as I sat back next to Vance and Bruce while the screen was rolling with the cast of everyone playing along with background information of the Nostromo with seven crew members with a cargo of twenty millions of mineral ore that they were returning back to earth.  I reach my hand out taking Bruce hand again in mine as he gave me a reassuring squeeze. about thirty minutes into the movie, I was starting to relax a bit watching as Kane was moving closer to the egg. I wanted to shout at the screen for Kane to move when the top of the egg opened like a flower petal as something started to move before jumping on his face as I felt my body jump out of its skin a bit out the corner of my eye, I had noticed Finn also jumped clinging onto Robin a bit while Robin wrapped an arm around him. I turned my eyes back to the movie pushing myself back in the seat as the movie kept going as I couldn't help but gag a bit when I saw the alien gripping Kane face as it tail seemed to tighten around his neck halfway through the movie though Kane looked normal without the alien attached and nothing bad was happening to him, but I had a feeling something big was coming. I was correct when he started coughing while gripping at himself as the rest of his crewmates were trying to figure out what was wrong setting Kane on the table while he screamed with blood seeping through his shirt before pop. something busted out his chest screeching at the others. I sunk myself further in the seat while still holding a grip onto Bruce hand. I swear if Sigourney weaver dies in this movie, I'm leaving I thought while the movie kept going. by the time the movie was over I was shouting in glee that Ellen survived as I looked back finding the other shaking a bit in their seats beside Bruce, and Robin.

"That movie was horrifying; I'm never stepping in space I change my mind" Finn said clinging on me a bit as I pulled him close to my side kissing his forehead. we all walked out the movie theater heading back to our places beside Finn who asked Robin if he could stay over which Robin agreed too. I gave the boys each a kiss goodbye before walking home getting dressed in my pj jumping right in my bed pulling the blanket over my head and closing my eyes.
