I was sitting in first period class tapping my pencil against the desk watching the clock. Every aching minute tik by growing longer. I just wanted the whole school day to end until gym period. This morning I tried to find Griffin to see if he was okay but when I finally caught up to him, he turned the other way rushing off. So now all my mind could focus on was figure out what was wrong.

"You don't look good" donna perch up moving closer to me. I let out a deep sigh laying my head on the desk looking up.

"I'm worried about my friend"

"Sorry to hear" she said. The teacher let out a cough to keep us silent as I grumbled turning my head away staring out the window. Donna taps the desk catching my attention as her eyes look down back up then down. I looked down, finding a note picking it up and unfolding it.

There is a baseball game later tonight. You should come with me.

"Okay" I whisper under my breath, folding the note back up and shoving it in my pocket. The bell rang as I pulled every in my bag walking off heading over to the girls bathroom dropping my bag to the floor. I didn't know if I should skip math or not. Suddenly the door swung open with an older girl walking in front of the mirror fixing her hair. She gave me a glance letting out a scoff.

"What?" I ask gripping the sink looking over to her. My fingers curled the rim turning red having no time for this shit. She kept to herself walking out of the bathroom kicking her feet up pushing my bag into a puddle of water giggling a bit. I kept quiet picking my bag up grabbing some paper towels whipping the bottom off the bell rang again as I sigh being already late for my next class why even bother trying to go.

My mood grew worse through the day as lunch had come and I was sitting all alone in the back staring at the tray of food until Donna came bouncing over all bubbles and sun shine.

"Still worried about your friend?" she asked, setting her tray down next to mine picking up the apple taking a bite.

"Yep" I said, poking my fork into the fruit cup watching the juice run down from the side. "I'm not sure if I'll even eat this I don't trust the milk"

"Don't drink it sometime the milk gone bad"

"Thanks for the warning" I said, reaching over and lifting the carton up checking for any labeling seeing the date was off by a few days. Definitely not drinking this. I set it back down, picking up the fruit cup and taking a few sips.

"Hey if you like I could be your friend" Donna perks up smiling a little while taking another bite of her apple.

"Umm sure" I said with an awkward smile. The bell rang as everyone was quickly rushing out of the cafeteria. I spotted Griffin near a table picking up his tray about to leave. I sat up running over to him tapping his shoulder. He jumped back in shock, almost tumbling over his feet, staring at me.

"Hi (y/n)"

"Hey Griffin, is everything okay?"

"Yes"

"Why are you avoiding me then?"

"I just want to be alone" he mumbled, walking away throwing his tray with the other rushing out the door.

"Oh" I mumble walking away to my next class dropping my bag to the floor taking a seat next to Donna.

By the end of school I was sitting by the oak tree with my sketch pad out. Donna came running over with an older girl by her side.

"Come on (y/n) the game is going to start" she said, holding a crush soda bottle in her hand, taking a sip from it, the other one holding (s/n) as she held it out to me. I followed after them, taking the soda from her hand thanking her for it while taking a sip. There were a few other kids at school staying to watch the game and parents coming by to see their kids play. I took a seat on the bleachers near a girl who was eating some popcorn looking around for her brother. The metal stung my legs as I swayed a bit putting my bag over. Donna took a seat next to me looking around letting out a giggle staring at a young boy.

"Finney so cute"

"Who's Finney?" I asked, looking around. She quickly pointed to a young boy with wavy brown hair who was shifting from one foot to another.

"Bruce is good looking though" Donna's friend pointed out, staring at a boy who was waving at a few girls looking over to us flashing a smile.

"Everyone likes Bruce though he's popular and kind" Donna commented, still keeping her eyes on Finney. I look between both the boys, turning my attention to the game once it starts. The game wasn't that interesting with the boys just hitting the ball or catching along with a few of them yelling at the other team to distract them. Bruce was up as he twirled the bat around looking over to the pitcher as the boy took a step back throwing the ball. Bruce smirked, swinging his bat hitting it over the fence as everyone started cheering. I clapped my hand a little, getting up knowing I should be heading home already. "Wait stay for a bit"

"Why?" I ask pulling my bag upholding on the strap looking around. some of the parents got up cheering their kids bringing them home while a few were still sitting back relaxing.

"we're going to the grab and go" she replied picking up her bag handing it to her friend strolling off.

we got there after a few minutes, and it was packed mostly everyone was outside chatting about the game and congratulating about the game. Donna was inside searching for snacks taking glances at Finney who was standing by the soda with Robin next to him as they were talking about something laughing a bit. suddenly Robin turned his head noticing me whisper something as Finney looks back smiling a bit. my cheeks started flaring up. I shook my head turning away looking down at some of the sweets before donna got up with a handful of candy walking up to the worker paying for it handing me some.

"oh thank you"

"You're welcome" she said walking off with her older friend. I stayed behind for a bit before heading back home.
