I was sitting in the living room watching tv. My brother was at daycare meanwhile my parents were working their ass off leaving me alone in the house. I kept switching through channel after channel, nothing interesting coming up. Suddenly I heard a knock behind me as I rushed up to my feet walking to the door.
"Hold on" I said, unlocking the door, swinging it open, finding Griffin standing there holding his hands looking up at me with a small smile.
"Want to go for another bike ride?" He asked, looking down at my knee. I had nothing else better to do today.
"Sure" I said walking off, picking the remote up, turning the tv off, walking back to him, closing the door, locking in. hopefully we would be out long or else I just locked myself out. He smiled heading back over to his bike while I went in the garage pulling my bike out jumping over peddling to him. "Are we going to make any stops on our trail?"
"Maybe to the grab and go if you like"
"Okay" I said, peddling next to his side looking around noticing a boy with some jersey on riding a bike throwing newspaper around a golden retriever following behind him. I waved my hand over to the boy earning a wave back before he returned his attention throwing newspaper at each house. "Who is that?"
"That's Billy, he's the paperboy there are only two others that do it." Griffin said, peddling a bit faster. I trailed behind him, speeding my pace up while we went down street after street stopping for a quick break near a field with a baseball game going on. We got back on our bikes after a few minutes heading to the grab and go. Not so many people were there, probably watching the game or relaxing at home. I got off my bike, handing it over to him while he wrapped the bike lock for both of us. When we got inside, I was welcomed with a cold breeze from the running fan with a faint cherry to bring the store to life drawing people in to buy sweets. Griffin was roaming around the store looking at soda bottles while I was looking at the comics to find something interesting. I took a peek over the pinball machine untouched. Pinball Vance wasn't here. Honestly, I wanted to know what was so interesting about the machine as I dug around my pocket pulling a quarter out pushing it in the slot watching the lights flicker on the machine rattling a bit before a ball dropped. My eyes were focused as I pushed on the button sending the ball straight up hitting a point.
"What are you doing?" Griffin asks holding two soda bottles one with berries another with (f/f). His eyes were scanning the machine up and down watching my moves.
"Playing pinball" I said, pushing another button holding in a grin once it hit another point.
"Wow you're good" he said leaning against the machine.
"Thanks" I mumbled, still pushing buttons until I missed the ball at one point watching it drop straight down. "Damit"
"I got a quarter if you want to play again" he said, setting the bottles down while digging in his pocket. I shook my head no, grabbing the bottle taking a swig. He took the bottles walking to the cash register to pay for them just as Vance came walking in. I quickly moved away from the machine as he looked at me up and down before walking over pulling out some quarters to play. A guy with long brown hair followed after him holding a bag of chips while he leaned against the wall watching Vance play. Griffin waved his hand for me to come over, holding the bottle out to me as I took it, taking another swig walking over the store kicking my feet against the ground a bit. "Would you like to come back to my place?"
"Sure" I said. He held a twinkle in his eyes as he rushed over grabbing our bikes jumping up. I got on mine following him. We stopped at a small brown house, a woman sitting in a lawn chair reading the newspaper.
"Griffin" the woman shouted with glee, setting the newspaper down running over pulling him close in a hug. He let out a yelp before hugging her back pulling away after a minute looking over to me.
"Mom this is my friend (y/n)" he said, a bit shy. She looked up to me smiling even more.
"Hello (y/n) are you hungry? I could make you kids food if you like" she started going on and on until Griffin let out a cough nudging his mother.
"Mom, we're good, come (y/n)" he said walking inside the house.
"But I like talking to her, she is so nice" I whisper following him up to his room taking a seat on the floor. He had a few posters plastered on his walls with a bookshelf next to the door along with a desk and his bag hanging on the chair. There were some clothes thrown on the floor with some empty soda bottles on the shelf, not too bad but still messy.
"Sorry I was going to clean my room yesterday" he said, taking a seat on his bed grabbing some of the soda bottles hiding them out of my sight.
"It's okay" I said, leaning against his bed. It was quiet for a few minutes before he got up walking downstairs leaving me alone. I got up walking around his room checking some of the books flipping through the pages. He came back after a few minutes giving us a tray of snacks that his mom made. We sat on the floor talking about books and eating snacks from time to time. Then we went into the living room watching a movie that Griffin claimed was amazing."You got to watch jaws its good"
"Is it that one with the shark?"
"Yes, have you seen it already?"
"No"
"Let's watch it then!" he said pulling out the vhs, putting it in rushing off to get popcorn. I took a seat on the couch waiting for him to come back. Just before the movie started, he came running back over holding out the bowl of popcorn.
"Thanks" I said, digging my hand in eating while leaning back watching. By the end of the movie, it wasn't that bad. "I like the ending when he said smile you son of a bitch"
"Me too" Griffin said laughing a little looking out the window letting out a sigh "it's turning dark"
"Oh, shit I got to go home" I said getting up walking over to the door gripping the handle looking back at him. "We could hang out tomorrow if you like"
He nodded his head, getting up, throwing the bowl in the sink. I opened the door and headed out jumping back on my bike riding back home throwing my bike in the garage. My mom was in the kitchen cleaning the dishes looking over to me."Hey sweetie did you have fun?"
" Yes, but I'm tired so I'm going to head to bed" I said walking in the living room giving my brother a kiss on the cheek.
"Okay" she said, still washing the dishes. I walked down the hall closing my door behind pulling out some pj changing into a more comfortable outfit laying back on the bed closing my eyes pulling a pillow close to my side.
