chapter one hundred and twenty-eight

The next day I was getting ready to apply for hopefully my job at the grab and go as I wore my nice jeans, along with a button up shirt that I had to steal from my mother while I was fixing my hair. I could already feel my heart already thumping harder against my chest as my lungs felt like they were closing a bit. Samson came into the bathroom nudging me leg whining a bit for his breakfast as I let out a groan setting my hairbrush down strolling into the kitchen pulling out the dog food pouring half a cup into the bowl after last time, I poured him a full cup and a few hours I was welcome to the sight of puke as I screamed for my mother to clean it because in no way was I going to clean it. Samson just stared blankly at me waiting for more food as I shook my head no setting the bag down walking back into the bathroom picking up the brush once again fixing the rest of my hair before walking out the bathroom once I got everything done as I walked out to the kitchen writing a note for my mother leaving it on the refrigerator before walking over to the front door picking up my shoes tugging them on and picking up my keys.

"Goodbye Samson, love you" I shouted walking out the door closing it behind me as I ran down the street to the grab and go. Once I got there, I noticed the store was packed with people walking in and out with snacks or hanging in little pods with their friends. I walked over to the counter as a woman finished ringing up a kid snack handing him back the change as the kid ran off.

"Can I help you?" the woman asked, slightly pissed as I took a deep breath walking up to her.

"I was wondering if there was any opening for-" I couldn't even finish my sentence as the women spoke up.

"Yeah, follow me" she said walking off to the back as I just followed right behind her into the storage room/make up office as she gestured for me to take a seat on one of the folding chairs as I sat back while she sat by the desk before throwing me all these questions one by one as I answer them one after the other as she nodded her head before throwing another question at me. By the end of it she wrote a few things down before handing me a slip of paper to write my house phone number on incase I would get a call saying I got the job.

"Thank you, you may leave now" she said before getting up walking out as a line of kids were waiting to pay for their things as she ran over to the register. I got up walking out the storage room making my way out the door walking off back to my house. 

when I got home, I sat on the couch turning the tv on as Samson came over jumping on the couch resting his head against my lap as I ran my hand over his head staring at the tv till a knock came from the front door as Samson started barking loudly. I quickly got up to my feet walking over the door opening it to see Griffin. 

"Hi pretty" he said with a slight smile. 

"Hi babe" I said giving him a quick kiss on the cheek as his face started to turn a bit red. "what are you doing here?"

"I was wondering if you wanted to spend some time together"

"of course" I said stepping inside to let him in as I closed the door taking a seat on the couch again as Griffin took a seat beside me as we watch some random show till I remembered the bookstore that Donna took me too as I got up off the couch telling Griffin I wanted to show him something as he gave me a questionable look but went along with it as he got off the couch following after me. 

when we got close to the bookstore, I laid my hands over his eyes guiding him till we got inside as I pulled my hand back taking a step next to his side watching his face turn to slight shock.

"wow" he mumbled and ran off around the bookstore as I covered my mouth letting a slight giggle slip out. "(y/n) come here" 

"I'm coming" I said walking over to him as he wrapped his hand around my arm shaking me a bit as I looked up to where his gaze was as I noticed the endless books of mystery and horror as his once smiling face turned a bit sad. "what's wrong babe?"

"It's nothing pretty, I just wished I brought my money" he said with a slight sigh 

"well," I said catching his attention as he looked at me with hope as I reach down into my pocket pulling out some money. "I knew you would probably want a book or two" 

he gave me a quick kiss on the lip before looking up and down the shelves while I walked off to the front looking at some of the stuffed animals that were placed as decorations around the store. Griffin came back with two books in his hand handing them over to me as I took them out of his grasp walking up to the old women handing her the books as she rings up the price. I took the money I had counting it out before handing it over to her getting some change back as I took the books handing them over to Griffin as he gave me a few more kisses on my cheek and forehead before grabbing my hand as we walked off.

"Babe thank you so much" he said as I gave him a warm smile

"Your welcome babe" I said kissing his cheek as we walked off back to his house as I greeted miss Stagg before following after Griffin in his room as I sat back on his bed while he sat next to me as he handed me one of the new books he bought as I sat back resting my head against his chest as we both read in silent while Griffin held me close.
