chapter sixty-eight

(Before we get into this chapter, I just wanted to say thank you all for the love and support and that I've enjoyed making this story so far, I always try to post a new chapter every day unless I'm busy with something. also, I wanted to say that I have a plan for this book where we dive into the character friendship with the boys or maybe it will turn to something more ;) anyways enjoy this chapter) 

"Sweetie, I just don't want you getting any frostbite" my mother said, dumping out a pile of winter gear. I was already wearing two pairs of jeans, a coat, gloves, hat, scarf. What more could I even need?

"Mom, I'll be fine" I groaned. I was already a few minutes late as I looked at the clock watching every minute tick by. I didn't want to keep the boys waiting around long but with an overprotective caring mother sometimes you just need to find some balance. My mother tisk her head grabbing another pair of gloves pulling it over my hand while grabbing another coat wrapping it around me. There wasn't really a lot of winter gear in the 1970's so I was still risking getting a cold out there, but it would be well worth it. Once my mother was done putting thousands of clothes over me, she sent me out the door as I tumbled my way out falling into a snow pile. Just classic. I pushed myself back to my feet waddling out to the forest where Griffin said was this big hill for us to sled and also private so that spot would only be for us.

Each step felt like it was taking hours as I was tugging off the extra coats and gloves bundling up into a pile under my arm making my way down the path gripping onto the tree for dear life as my foot almost slipped underneath me from the ice. I moved over to the next tree holding onto it like a newborn baby just finding its balance as I did the same thing again till I made my way down. The boys were already by the hill playing around as I noticed Vance throwing snowballs at Bruce as Finn and Robin were sledding down the hill holding on each other while Griffin and Billy were making a snowman. I drop the pile of extra clothes behind a tree making my way over, sneaking up behind Vance putting a finger to my lip as Bruce wink at me. I cup my hands into the snow rolling it to a ball pulling my hand back before swinging it getting a direct hit to his head. He spun his head around so fast giving me a smirk taking a couple of snowballs as I didn't back down quickly picking up the snow forming it to another ball jumping around when Vance threw the snowballs as I threw only a couple at a time before he ran out at me sending us both tumbling into the snow. 

"Vance!" I yelled out sitting up shaking off the snow as it clung to me.

"You started it doll" he said with a smirk as I shoved him back into the snow getting on my feet. Each of the boys wanted me to do everything all at once as we had to huddle up and decide what to do first. I was sitting next to Bruce and Billy drawing in the snow of the list of things we could do. We all had agreed on to start a snowball fight, I was the odd one out though as Robin, Bruce, Finn were on one team, Vance, Griffin and Billy were on another each of them having one person who would be the thrower another who would build the wall and the one that could build the snowball. I decided to go over to Vance, Griffin and Billy because I became friends with Griffin and Billy first and Griffin was already shaking in fear of the snowball fight or the chilly air. Vance and Robin suddenly yelled out as the fight began. I quickly was pushing snow over to Griffin as he was quick to make them into balls handing it over to Vance while I pushed another pile of snow to Billy who was working on making the wall stronger. Finn though had a secret as he took a couple of snowballs aiming it at our wall as it started falling apart and Bruce with his good throwing hand at baseball, he got good aim hitting all of us.

"that's not fucking fair you two play baseball and have advantages" Vance shouted 

"You win you win!" Griffin shouted over Vance hiding behind me as the boys were busy aiming at Vance more than the rest of us. Me and Billy burst out laughing as we agreed with Griffin. Next was sledding which Finn, Bruce, Billy and Griffin each had brought there while I didn't have a sled, Vance broke his out of anger and Robin lost his. I took a seat on Billy sled while Vance went with Bruce and Robin went to Finn. I wrapped my arms around Billy's waist pulling myself closer as he turned his head back.

"I got you" he whispered, turning his head back looking at the others as Griffin announced go and Billy quickly took the chance using his leg kicking the sled forward as we plummet down. I buried my face into Billy's back as my heart was thumping wildly. The boys were cheering trying to race down faster as Billy wasn't so focused on their race as he took one of my hands in his reassurance to say he wasn't going to let me go. I poke my head up a bit and let the excitement fill me in as I started cheering along. We didn't finish in first place, but we didn't end up last either that's when Robin came up with an idea to go down the hill all together in one sled, we all were up to the idea not caring about the consequence as we took Bruce sled reaching up to the top one again and squeezing ourselves in as I was stuck between Robin and Vance. I held a firm grip onto Robin while pressing my back against Vance moving around a little to get comfortable before Bruce dug into the snow pulling us forward it only moved about an inch as we all had to dig our hands into the snow pulling us up before reaching up to the edge as we leaned overlooking to the edge, but it was just enough to let the sled tip sending us down the hill. We all were laughing, hollering and shouting as the sled shot down the hill. 

Somehow nobody got injured once we reached the bottom thankful as I jumped out the sled landing on my back making snow angels as Bruce, Griffin, Finn also joined me making snow angels while Robin made a devil in the snow and umm Vance well, he drew a dick into the snow which didn't surprise me in the slightest. Then lastly, we went to building snowman all together as me and Finn were rolling up the snow using our big base rolling it around in the snow along with the help of Robin who had to join in at some point to help while griffin and Billy were doing the head and Vance and Bruce were making the middle part but now the question was how we would get it all together. We left the bottom base alone as we all pick up the second piece placing it on top then we took the head rolling it at the top but it still wouldn't reach as I kindly ask Bruce to help me up placing the head on top then we took some rocks for decoration because none of us had a carrot for the news, or the top hat so we just got some rocks for the face and belly while I took my red scarf from the extra pile of clothes wrapping it around before stepping back staring at our great masterpiece. The fun couldn't last long though as the sun started to set. I pick up my extra clothes throwing waving goodbye to the boys rushing off back home tugging the extra clothes on so I wouldn't get yelled at. 

the boys watched as she left all of their hearts thumping a bit wondering how long they could be able to tell her how each of them felt without ruining their friendship as they all looked at each other before each of them saying goodbye heading off home with a certain someone on their mind.
