chapter eighty-five

I ran over to the kitchen picking the phone up off the counter twirling my finger around the cord.

"Hello?"

"Hey (y/n) are you busy?"

"Hm no why?"

"Me, Robin and the others wanted to know if you like to go to the roller rink"

"Yeah, that sounds fun I'll meet up with you guys there"

"See you (y/n)" he said before hanging up the phone. I was already buzzing with excitement but a little nervous. The last time I tried roller skating I kept falling on my ass and bumping into others so I'm hoping one of the other boys could help me out. I made my way back outside as I started begging my mother to hang out with my friends at the roller rink. She took one look at me then at the driveway as she nodded her head. I jumped up and wrapped my arms around her pulling her close into a hug as she let out a chuckle hugging me back. After a minute I pulled myself away as I waved at my parents before walking once again through the snow going on a slight adventure.

Almost half an hour later I finally made it to the roller rink as Billy was standing outside looking around before his eyes landed on mine as a smile tugged at my lips before my feet kicked up running over to Billy pulling him into a hug as he chuckled, wrapping his arms around me holding me close.

"What are you doing standing around in the cold?"

"I was waiting for you, the others are inside getting skates while Vance messing around with their pinball machine"

"Well let's go" I said, grabbing his hand and dragging him inside. Music started blasting in my ear as Billy held my hand leading me to the others. I was caught up looking around as I saw rows of different arcade machines lining the wall, a vending machine was over in the back corner with different types of common drinks and a few candy bars. Suddenly the lights grew dim as the speakers boom out with fox on the run and the lights shifted to a red, green and yellow as a few people jumped on the roller rink. I was slightly jamming out as we made it over to the others. They were already putting on their skates as Vance was slightly struggling up on his feet gripping the side of the roller rink for support while Finn was slightly having a hard time getting used to the skates as Robin held onto his arm for support. I had to hold back a giggle from watching the sight as I walked off to the worker asking for a pair of skates as he smiled at me walking to the back handing me a pair and wishing me a good day I gave him a slight smile saying a thanks before taking the skates walking back over to the boys plopping down on the floor taking my shoes off throwing them next to Bruce as I tug the skates on typing them up twice so there was no chance of the string wrapping under the wheels and send me landing flat on my face. now I just needed to figure out how to get back on my feet. 

"Bruce help me" I called out as he came skating over me "can you help me up?"

"sure" he said holding out his arm putting them under mine as he hoisted me back up to my feet with ease as I slight held a grip on him not daring to let go.  He kept an arm around my waist as we stood waiting for the others to get on their skates as all of them got out on the rink while Bruce jumping in turning his head back waiting for me to come in as I looked out slightly nervous. "(y/n) what's wrong?" 

"Just nervous I've only skated once"

"Do you want to hang onto me, and we could skate?" he said holding out his hand as I nodded my head taking his hand in mine as I got in gripping his hand a bit tighter almost feeling my foot slide as he laid his arm around me. "Just follow my lead" 

it took a few minutes of circling around the rink and sometimes going back and forth before I got the hang of it as I let go of Bruce going at my own path spinning around a little. Then Vance got the idea of having a race around the rink of course I was all in and Robin joined in as Finn and Griffin decided against the idea since they were new to this and got out of the roller rink. we stood over by the wall waiting for them to get off while setting some rules to watch out for the others witch Vance wasn't so happy to hear as Robin shoved him before taking off as Vance gave chase after him the rest of us just looked at each other before taking off after them. I pushed my way past Bruce and Billy picking up the pace reaching for Vance as he gained up speed pasting by Robin. I was gaining speed as I passed by Robin catching up to Vance as he blocked my path from getting ahead of him as I kept trying to get in front as I smirked racing up to his other side passing by him and winning our little race as I flipped Vance off bursting out in laughter. Vance flipped me back off as we all got off the rink taking a table to rest for a little and eat some pizza. the sky was starting to become dark as we all grab our jackets and the rest of our belongs as me, Griffin and Vance, Billy started walking toghter while Bruce, Robin, Finn stuck toghter. we dropped off Billy first then Vance as now it was just me and Griffin walking back to our homes. 

"Hey Griffin, I have a question, you like Stephen king, right?" I questioned looking over at him.

"yeah"

"what's your favorite book?"

"The shining why do you ask?"

"Oh okay" I said slightly cursing under my breath as we made it up to my house as I gave Griffin a hug before running back inside my house rushing to my room grabbing Carrie off my shelf opening to the notes taking a piece of scratch paper writing down a small note for myself before putting it back and jumping on my bed pulling the covers over closing my eyes falling asleep.
