chapter twenty five

Almost a week passed. I was sitting outside laying my head on Robin's shoulder while Finn was sitting eating his lunch. Gwen also wanted to join us and was getting her own lunch.

"So what happened at the grab and go?" Robin asked, laying his arm around me.

"I'll tell you when Gwen comes" I said knowing she would bug me if she didn't get to hear my story. I became the talk of the school on monday when kids were talking about Vance beating up a few kids then my name was mentioned so now I was dragged into some unwanted drama that both Robin and Gwen were asking me about what happened. Gwen was running up to the tree setting her tray down giving me a beaming smile.

"Are you going to tell us!" she shouted

"Yeah yeah" I said sitting up still staying in Robin's grasp. "I just went to the grab and go to talk to Finn and get some snacks when two kids were walking in then one got pushed into Vance game, so he lost his shit then he gave me the kids switchblade"

"Wow" Gwen said, taking a bite from her apple. I smiled digging in my pocket pulling out the switchblade as Finn looked from the corner of his eye.

"You still have it!" he shouted

"It was a gift" I said, putting it back as Finn looked shaken before Robin nudged him.

"Finn she won't use it"

"How do you know I won't? What if Moose comes up to me"

"Then I'll just kick his ass" he cut in rubbing my head a stray of hair falling in my face. I shook my head leaning back against the tree until the bell rang signaling lunch was over as I let out a groan getting up to my feet.

"Gwen want to walk with me to class?"

"Yes!" she said, picking up her tray following next to my side. We went back into the lunchroom so she could dump her tray while I was looking at the crowd of people pushing their way out the lunchroom. "Hey (y/n) Finn got a game coming up, would you like to come with me?"

"Of course," I said, I would never be able to say no to her and I mean never. She was beaming like the sun as I walked with her, dropping her off in her class waiting for a minute before walking off to my class.

When it got close to the end of the school I was waiting around by the front doors for Gwen, Finn and Robin so we could all walk back to Finn place to hang around for a bit. Gwen came out first trying to fix one of her braids that ended up coming loose. I dropped my bag walking over to her, fixing it up.

"Thank you (y/n)"

"Your welcome" I said, picking my bag up leaning back against the wall as Finn and Robin came out. Finn was holding up a comic about the moon landing. "Robinnn can you carry me please"

"Sure" he said, crouching down a bit. I ran over to him jumping onto his back as he stood back to his feet wrapping his arm under my leg walking off. I laid my head over his back, closing my eyes wondering if I could take a power nap until he stopped. I lifted my head back up wondering what was going on until Gwen answer it for me"

"Pinball Vance missing"

"What?" I asked, jumping off Robin back looking over. Right on one of the streetlamps stapled in was a slip of paper. In big bold letters it read missing along with a picture of Vance Hopper. He had gone missing since Monday on Leona Street. It came as a shock to all of us Vance could beat anyone ass up but now, he's gone. We continue walking, rushing into Finn house. It was a mess with beer bottles, vodka bottles and cigarette buds. Finn looked ashamed of the mess his dad had made as Gwen started picking up some of the empty bottles. I joined in helping Gwen as Finn was picking some bottles off the coffee table.

"Sorry for the mess" Finn said, lowering his head.

"It's okay Finn" I said, giving a warm smile.

"Yeah don't worry about it Buddy" Robin said, rubbing Finn back a little as we all went to clean up the house a bit. I went to the kitchen dumping some more bottles as I noticed the morning rocky mountain newspaper right on the front page in big bold letters screaming out the grabber strike with a picture of Vance and other information. I threw the last bottle away walking off to Finn's room jumping on his bed. Sadly this wasn't going to be a fun hangout as we all started working on our homework asking the others for help if needed.

"Hey Finn when your game coming up?"

"Next friday"

"Thank you" I said, leaning back against one of his pillows, writing a note down for myself, giving a wink to him giggling as his face turned a bright red. So easy to mess with. We kept doing our homework as Robin had to catch up again on science and math. I checked the time knowing my mom would want me home early as I got up.

"I'll see you guys tomorrow"

"See you (y/n)" they both quickly shouted. I was heading out the door when a car pulled in the driveway. Finn's dad. I just gave a slight wave picking up my speed a little. I entered the house noticing my parents weren't home like always as I didn't think much of it walking back to my room throwing my bag in the corner collapsing on my bed.
