I was running back home stuck in almost pitch-black darkness with the streetlights glowing a little. The snow was falling more rapidly as the wind was zipping around me, sending some snow right into my face. I held onto my jacket as I lifted one hand over my face picking up the pace. If I didn't get home in time I could end up in a pile of snow. I should have stayed at Michael's place, but it was already too late. I kept pushing my way through till I got up to my porch knocking on the door a couple times as my father opened it letting me inside.
"Why weren't you at school?" my mother shouted from the kitchen making her way over to me and my father with a stern look written all over her face as she tapped her foot against the carpet floor. I stood there like a fool as my mind went blank for a minute before I finally spoke up."I went to check up on my friend and help this person on the way"
My mother let out a sigh storming her way off to my brother's room as I gave my father a glance before taking my jacket and boots off, throwing them down and dropping my backpack down walking back into my room."Sweetie just don't skip school again" my mother spoke, picking up my brother rubbing his back looking at me. I nodded my head stepping into my room, shutting the door behind making my way over to my desk pulling my chair back, taking a seat turning my head to the window watching the snow zip by as then I heard a call from the kitchen.
"(y/n) it's for you!" my father shouted from the kitchen. I got up on my feet rushing out to the kitchen while my dad shook the phone in his hand looking at me before I took it out of his hand, shooing him away waiting until he disappeared around the corner.
"Hello?" I whisper into the phone
"Hey (y/n) are you okay?" Donna asked me
"Yeah, I'm fine, why?"
"The boys were wondering, because you just left school, why did you leave school?"
"I- I went to go see Michael but we didn't talk much it felt like he was on one side of the wall, and I was on the outside"
"Maybe he still upset because of the fight""Yeah"
"Do you think we may get a snow day" she suddenly ask as I looked back by one of the windows watching the endless snow
"I hope so I need time to read"
"Why?"
"I got another letter from my secret admire and a gift"
"The gift was a book?"
"Yes but their no cover on it so I have to read it to figure out maybe it will give me a hint closer to the person"
"Well, if you find that clue, please tell me! I'm sorry I have to go my mother calling me for dinner talk to you later (y/n)""Later Donna" I said putting the phone back up walking off to my backpack pulling the book out holding it under my arm as I snuck into the kitchen picking up some left over food warming it in the microwave for about a minute before taking my plate back to my room setting it down next to my book flipping to the first page as I sat back down leaning my head against my hand as I started to read quickly I realized that it was a Stephen king book of Salem's lot I was slightly cheering up inside sense I haven't read the book yet but now I finally had my hint or at least I think I did. I took out a piece of paper picking up a pencil twirling it in my fingers for a sec before jointing down notes of what I had so far as I took the two piece of paper my secret admire left for me as I shoved them all into my desk for safe keeping but then I thought my mother would go snooping through my room so I took the piece of papers folding them over placing them into a book of Carrie something my mother would never dare to touch or even read after I spent years begging her to read it before as she kept saying nope not wanting any nightmares. I placed the book back on my shelf hiding it to the corner with my other Stephin king book. I snuck back out to the living room to take the cookies that Mary gave me to take as I ran back to my room jumping on my bed pulling out a cookie nibble on it while listening to the radio jamming out a bit every time my favorite song would play soon though sleep was starting to take over me as I kept yawning every minute catching myself nodding off before jolting back up. I set down the bags of cookies reaching out turning my lamp and the radio off before rolling to the other side of the bed drifting off to sleep.
I found myself in the woods as I jumped up looking around finding myself near me and the boys hiding spot. I was slightly praying to myself this wasn't a nightmare with the grabber as I started walking around looking down at the snow angles as then I heard a laugh from behind me. I spun around quickly holding my fist up ready to fight back as I saw nothing around me. By now the grabber would have come to torment me as I pulled my fist back down at my side walking off finding out that I couldn't reach far as I ended right back to where I started. then I noticed a strange light heading right to me as I found myself drawn to it that I didn't notice my legs were moving on their own closer to the light. my hand started reaching out to it as the light reach out to me wrapping an arm around me holding me close as I just kept staring as it leaned in closer.
I woke up with a jolt as I found myself holding the covers close. peaks of light flooded in my room as I let out a groan falling back on my bed pulling the covers over wishing I could go back to sleep to figure out what that light was as I threw the covers off getting up on my feet ready to start the day.
