I was lying in bed looking out the window watching the rays of orange and yellow fill my room. My parents were out visiting old friends with my brother. They did try to bring me along, but I wanted to stay home if Griffin came over to hang out.

I got up walking outside to get some fresh air stretching my arms out letting a yawn slip through my lips. Suddenly I felt something poke my leg as I looked down seeing a golden retriever poking his nose in my leg.

"Hi little guy, what's your name?" I whispered crouching down to the dog level, lifting it collar up. Rover. "Where is your owner?"

Just as I finished asking, a boy strolling on his bike throwing newspaper came over to me holding a newspaper in his hand looking down at the dog by my leg.

"Rover I told you not to go far, sorry about that-" he stop mid sentence looking up at me his face lighting a bit "your (y/n) the new girl in town"

"Yeah" I said, rubbing my neck a little looking back down at the dog.

"I'm Billy this is my dog rover, here's your newspaper" he said holding it out. I took it out of his grasp, tucking it under my arm.

"Well you know my name already. It's nice to meet you billy" I said. He smiled, snapping his finger a little, catching the dog's attention as they headed off to deliver more news. I headed back inside the house looking down at the news to see if anything interesting would come up. It was all pretty boring. I set the newspaper down on the table for my dad to read later while I was scrolling through the tv.

Hours went by. I was still sitting on the couch watching tv waiting around for griffin wondering if he even was going to come over. Suddenly the door burst wide open. My father walked up holding my baby brother with my mother following next to his side reaching her hands out grabbing her son.

"Hey sweetie, how was your day?" she asked, patting my baby brother on the back heading off to the kitchen.

I didn't say a word while still staring at the tv before my father came over stealing the remote out of my hand turning the tv off. I shot a glare at my dad.

"Kiddo get dressed, we're heading out to the drive-in" he said strolling to his room. I rolled my eyes a little pushing myself up walking off to my room changing out my messy clothes to a shirt and some jeans along with a hoodie for later when it got cold.

"I'm ready!" I called out leaning against the wall by the door while my dad was fixing up his jeans giving my mother a few kisses before walking out tugging me along to the truck. I got in the back leaning my head against the seat staring out the window. The radio was pitching in on the latest song keeping my mind active before my dad turned it down turning his head to me.

"Kiddo I promise you'll love this place my dad used to take me here all the time when I was your age" he claimed, turning his head back to watch the road.

"Okay" I said, still staring out the window watching trees whip by. Houses fading in and out of view with kids running around playing outside. "How long will we stay out?"

"Not long will just stay for about two hours" he said, turning down a lane with a dirt road pulling up. There was a big sign with bubble letters saying the movie tonight was Texas chainsaw massacre. My dad drove up looking out the window for a spot as I leaned over tapping him on the shoulder "yes kid?"

"There's a spot over by that truck" I said pointing over to a red truck. A boy around my age was sitting on top of the tailgate looking around, probably waiting for his dad to come back with some snacks.

"Good eye kid" my dad said pulling up parking next to him "you get the blanket and open the trunk I'll be back with some snacks for us please stay here"

"Dad you already know I'm going to stay here" I said, reaching by my feet pulling up the silk blanket wrapping it around myself. He laughed a bit, grabbing the keys, throwing them over to me jumping out walking off. I waited a few minutes before hopping out walking around to the back pulling the tailgate down and throwing the blanket over. I pushed my hand down pulling myself up laying back taking a look over to the boy next to me noticing he had a bandana wrap around his head with just a tank top on and dark jeans. Robin, the one everyone had cheered on during the fight. I turned my head back around watching the screen until my father returned, handing me a soda and setting the popcorn down next to my side.

"Thanks dad" I said, pulling the popcorn close, taking a few bites as the movie started. Halfway through the movie I noticed the popcorn was almost gone "Dad I'm going to get us some more"

"Sure kid" he said, wincing a bit at a sense where someone was getting stabbed. I took the bag getting down walking over to the stand waiting in line whistling a little to myself moving forward until I finally got up to the front.

"Hey, can I just get a refill?"

"Sure miss" the woman said, taking the bag out my hand walking to the back using the scoop filling the bag up. The toasted smell of butter mixed with salt filled the little hut. it only escaped out the front window to grab people's attention.

"Thanks" I said, grabbing the bag back as she gave me a warm smile turning her attention to the next customer. I was about to head on my way when I slammed right into someone in front of me spilling the bag. "Well, there goes my snack"

"Sorry about that" the person said, turning their head looking at me. I looked up and noticed the same bandana from early. Oh god I had just bump right into Robin.

"No, I'm sorry I didn't see where I was looking" I said trying to reach down to grab the bag. He stopped me reaching down, handing me back the bag walking away. I'm an idiot. Once I got back to the truck, I couldn't even give a glance over to Robin watching the rest of the movie cheering the girl on when she escaped in the truck.

"Did you enjoy it?"

I nodded my head jumping down grabbing the blanket throwing it into the back. My dad got the keys, closing the tailgate back up. He got in, turning the radio on, turning it full blast driving off back home. I was looking back out the window noticing Griffin walking down the street with his mother just keeping quiet to himself. Hope he is okay. When we got home the lights were turned off.

"Try to get some rest" my dad said, opening the door for me. I didn't say a word walking inside, getting to my room slamming the door behind me, locking it lying in bed wondering what tomorrow would bring me.
