chapter fifty-two

October thirty first. Halloween has come to town with ghouls, zombies, ghosts ect lurking around the town a day for kids to dress up and go trick or treating while the teenagers have a party then late at night, we don't speak what the adults do. I was getting my dress on while messing with my hair a bit then picked up the crown laying it over my head. Suddenly I heard a click behind me as I turned my head seeing my mother standing in the doorway holding up a camera.

"Look at my little princess"

"Mooom" I groaned hiding my face as she tried to take another picture. "I'm not little anymore I'm just doing this for the dance"

"But you still look so cute" she said quickly, taking another picture walking away. I shook my head making my crown fall to the side as I pulled it back. My dad was by the door with a bowl full of candy ready to hand out to trick or treaters while my brother was dressed up as a bat flapping his little wings. My mother picked him up walking out to the car to bring him out for a bit of trick or treating. I made my way to the car after saying goodbye to my father jumping into the passenger seat.

"Sweetie are you sure you won't want me to pick you up early?" my mother asked, pulling up into the school parking lot where a few kids were hanging around waiting for their friends.

"Yes, I'm sure"

"Fine and you aren't allowed to stay the night at Vance" she scolded me a bit. After I had told her that me and the others were going to Vance house for our Halloween movie night, she wasn't so open around the idea until I mentioned Bruce, Billy and Finn would be there then she was okay with it.

"Okay mom" I said, jumping out the car, shutting the door behind. There was a banner outside with the words Halloween dance written in big letters along with a few spider webs hanging on the doors with a fake spider nearby. I made my way up the stairs walking inside noticing there was a fake ghost with a sign saying greeting. Honestly it was surprising even with the little decoration the stuff they put in rather than boring. I noticed Gwen coming out of the cafeteria holding a black balloon as my mind grew foggy, the pit of my stomach filling up with panic. She noticed and threw the balloon out of my sight.

"Sorry (y/n), I was hoping that you, or the others wouldn't see"

"Why?"

"Because Finn was freaking over it and Robin even looked a bit shaken when he saw the balloons"

"I- I think it's because the grabber had the same balloons it was a way to distract us and then leave it for the police to find"

"I noticed them in my dream, so I've been looking around taking them all and hiding them"

"Thank you, Gwen" I said with a small smile "have you seen Donna?"

"She in the gym"

"Thanks" I said walking away as Gwen rushed her way off to search for more balloons. I made my way into the gym passing by the crowds of people with music blaring in the background as I scanned around the room hoping she was close by as I felt a hand wrap around my mind pulling me to them.

"(y/n) help me" Bruce said hiding behind me even though he was taller than me and you could still see him.

"What did you do?"

"I made Vance mad"

"I thought Vance doesn't come to anything school related"

"He changed his mind, and I was trying to joke with him, and he got angry so now help me" Bruce said with a slight chuckle hiding behind me again as I saw Vance stomping his way around searching for Bruce. I took Bruce's arm dragging him out of sight over to Donna who was sitting on the bleachers talking to a few girls as they all spun their heads looking up to Bruce, their faces growing red by the second with their eyes memorized by his looks. I honestly wanted to know how he could be able to stand the attention. 

"(Y/n) you look great in that medieval princess outfit" Donna said standing up walking over to me wrapping her arms around for a hug as I wrapped my arms around her. 

"Well, you look amazing in that grease outfit" I said looking down at her bright pink jacket along with a white/pinkish top and a blue skirt. 

"Thank you" she said twirling in her skirt a little. we took a seat back on the bleachers while Bruce went off to stay hidden from Vance as me and Donna started talking about the decoration in the school before she then said there was more that I had to check out as we walked out of the gym.

"They did really go all out" I said walking into the cafeteria that had a table stacked with food if anyone got hungry and some candy if anyone wanted to grab some before leaving early to go get more. there were also purple, orange, yellow, black streamers all around the ceiling falling to the side of the walls.  

"Last year they did the same thing beside the food" she said picking up a cupcake handing it over to me as I took it out of her hands pinching the liner pulling it down taking a bite getting a bit of frosting on my lips.  

"I'm glad that my parents came back"

"Me too or else I would have never met my new best friend" she said wiping some of the frosting off her lips as we both laughed heading back to the gym. everyone was still hanging around talking to one another before we heard a slight screech.

"Can I have everyone attention" the principal said grabbing everyone attention "thank you everyone who could join this dance I know it's been tough for a few people but tonight is a day to enjoy the Halloween spirit enjoy" 

the music started to pick up as I watched everyone start to dance around while I went over to the back to just keep to myself until I felt a tap on my shoulder turning my head noticing Bruce was standing there holding his hand out.

"May I have a dance my lady?" he asked still holding his hand out waiting for me to accept.

"Hmm okay Bruce" I said giving him my hand.
