I was sitting in the kitchen eating my (b/n) while reading a book. My brother was chewing on some cereal while my mother was getting dressed ready to head to work.
"Are you sure you don't want me to drop you off at the post office?" she asked, putting her hair up in a bun. I shook my head no taking a bite picking up my plate.
"I need my bike if I'm going to deliver newspapers with Billy" I said, dumping the leftover pieces of my food and throwing my plate in the sink.
"How long will you two be out?"
"Not long unless we stop by the grab and go for a snack" I said walking off to my room changing out of my pair of sleeping clothes to something more casual before walking back into the kitchen kissing my brother's forehead. "Bye mom love you"
"Love you too sweetie" she said as I closed the door behind me. I ran over to the garage pulling my bike out, jumping over and taking off down the street passing by some kids who were running around playing in the street.
I got to the post office placing my bike down as Rover lifted his head running over to me jumping on my leg trying to give me kisses as I laughed getting on my knees scratching his head. Billy came rushing out with a stack of newspapers looking at me with such relief. I pushed myself back to my feet walking over taking half of the stack out his arm.
"This is a lot" I mumbled as Billy chuckled, pulling out a bunch of rubber bands for us to tie them up.
"It's always worse on the weekend" he said, setting the rubber bands down crouching on one knee. I took a couple rubber bands, rolled the newspaper up and put it over rinse and repeat until the last one. I took half the newspaper jumping back on my bike waiting for Billy as he got up jumping over his as we both took off throwing newspaper towards houses one after another. "How did your project go?"
"Oh me, Finn and Donna won "
"That's amazing (Y/n)" he said, smiling brightly while taking another newspaper.
"Thanks" I said, picking up a newspaper and throwing it out. We kept going down the street before we had to come back to the post office grabbing more newspapers going back out. We went down one street throwing newspapers out as I looked over to a house about to throw the newspaper when that man, the one who was a part time magician, was walking out wearing some kind of cape with a top hat and some glasses as his eyes landed on me. I pick up the pace returning back to the newspaper still throwing them to the houses. Soon we got done with the route as we were rushing off to the grab and go to get some water and a snack or two.
"Rover stay here" Billy said, getting off his bike leaning it next to a barber shop. I did the same thing following after Billy inside the nice cold air greeting me from the sun cooking rays of heat earlier hitting down on me. Billy went into the back looking around for two water bottles while I was hanging around the comics looking at each one. The store was less busy in the morning with only a few kids coming in and out to pick up some sodas or a piece of candy. Billy suddenly pop next to me, handing me a water bottle.
"Thanks" I said, unscrewing the cap and taking a few sips.
"Your welcome" he said walking up to the worker paying for our drinks and a few snacks he had picked up. We went back outside taking a seat on the curb. "What are your plans for tomorrow?"
"I got to help Robin out with math, you?"
"Deliver more newspaper"
"Of course" I mumbled finishing up my drink, throwing it in the trash. Rover started barking at Billy as he sighed, running his hand over his golden fur looking at me.
"I'll see you on Monday" he said getting back to his feet walking to his bike riding off with Rover trailing along.
"See you on Monday!" I shouted waving off to him letting out a sigh wishing we could still be hanging out but with this heat my body was already dying to get back home to the cold air. I dragged myself back home collapse on the bed pulling my shirt off wiping away at any lingering sweat on my forehead as I closed my eyes just resting my head against the covers before getting up walking into the bathroom picking up a couple towels laying them over the rack turning the faucet watching jets of water pour down. I tug my clothes off stepping in the tub, laying my head back, closing my eyes, letting the water wrap around my skin, cooling it down. Soon enough I found myself falling asleep. Ring. I jolted back awake to the sound of the phone ringing as I got up grabbing my towel wrapping it around me. Ring. Ring. Ring.
"I'm coming Fuck" I mumbled walking out to the kitchen picking the phone up. "Hello?"
"Hi sweetie, just make sure your home me and your dad will be a bit late, so you got to make dinner for yourself we love you" she said. I tried to say something as the phone clicked, going silent. I let out a groan setting the phone down walking back into the bathroom draining the tub and picking up a sleepwear outfit pulling it over myself. I went back out into the kitchen searching around the fridge pulling out a tv dinner tray pushing it in the microwave waiting. Ding. I pulled the tray out ripping back the peeling off taking a seat on the couch digging my fork into the meal.
