chapter sixty-four

A few days after the game it had started to snow. I was out by the window this morning still getting ready for school as I watched little snowflakes dance their way around the sky falling on the pile of snow that was building up. My mother had a slight scowl on her face at the sight of it, meanwhile my brother also joined me watching the snow, laying his hand on the glass, jumping up a bit in excitement as I wrapped my arms around him holding him steady so he wouldn't end up tumbling back. 

"You two are insane for liking this weather" my mother said, fixing her hair into a bun picking up the basket full of dirty clothes.

"Better than dying of heat" I said, picking up my brother giving him a kiss on the forehead before sending him out my room waiting for my mother to leave as I shut the door stripping out my clothes looking for some jeans and a sweater for warmth. I got up pulling my clothes over walking over to the mirror slightly checking myself out. I made my way to the living room where my brother was now more focused on playing with some toys and my mother went around searching for something. I jumped over the couch snatching the remote up and turning on the tv to some cartoon leaning my head back against the arm rest. Once my mother found what she had needed she forced me out the door into the car strapping my brother into his car seat. "Couldn't I have just stayed home???"

"No, you have to go to school"

"But there won't be anything interesting" I mumbled leaning back against the seat looking out the window resting my head against my hand. 

I was walking around the hallway minding my own business writing down some notes for class till I noticed a group of girls surrounding something or someone. I went to my locker searching around for a pencil not realizing Griffin was standing next to me till I slammed the locker shut turning my head seeing eyes staring back at me as I jumped back.

"Griffin what are you doing???" I question throwing my bag over my shoulder tilting my head a bit. "Are you being picked on again?"

"No, have you've seen the new student?"

"Umm no but I've heard about him, why?" 

"He looks exactly like Vance"

"Oh, now I got to see" I said unable to believe as Griffin leads me over to where the others were standing looking past the girls as I took a closer look. my mouth dropped a bit the boy had the same crazy hairstyle Vance was sporting with long locks of brown hair frizzing around but had Bruce Mainer being kind to the girls and had the same style of outfit like him and Vance combined. 

"Wow it's an off-brand version of you two" I said with a slight chuckle looking to Bruce and Vance as they both nodded their heads both of them having a questionable look to their face while I kept staring at the new boy feeling butterflies in the pit of my stomach as my gaze soften a bit. 

"Look like someone has a crush" Gwen said standing next to Finn side.

"No, I don't" I quickly said becoming flustered rushing off to first period before the bell rang. Donna was already in her seat diving deep into her book before she took a glance up seeing me. 

"(y/n) (y/n) have you've seen the new kid?" Donna questioned me moving her seat closer so nobody else could overhear our conversation.

"Yeah, and to be honest he's kind of cute" I whisper hiding my face a little feeling the heat rising to my cheeks again.

"doesn't he act like Bruce"

"Yeah, but doesn't he also look like Vance but without the blonde hair" 

"Your right" she said getting back into her book as I pulled out my book leaning back into the chair humming to myself a bit.  reading didn't last long though as my teacher came up knocking on my desk to grab my attention.

"You need to go to the front office" she whispers walking off as I put my book away handing my bag over to Donna so she could keep an eye on it.

when I got to the front office the lady looked up from her desk pointing out to the principal office as I mumbled out a thanks knocking on the principal's door as I stood back waiting before she opened the door stepping aside to let me in.

"(y/n) welcome this is Michael" she said motion to the new student as he gave me a warm smile standing up from his seat taking a step close to me.

"Nice to meet you (y/n) that's a beautiful name"

"Oh, umm thank you, it's nice to meet you too M-Michael" I said rubbing the back of my neck a bit avoiding looking at his eyes trying not to fluster again. 

"(y/n) would you like to show Michael around school?" the principal questioned me taking a seat at her desk. 

"okay" I said as she wrote down a little note handing it over to me as I took it "what's this for?"

"you'll two will be able to leave class five minutes early before the rest" she said with a smile sitting back in her chair as I put the slip of paper into my pocket. 

"Well, Michael just follow me I'll show you around school and if you have any questions just ask" I said with a smile as he nodded his head turning back to the principal saying a thank you before following me out. 

"(y/n)" 

"Yes Michael?"

"Would it be okay if we could stop at the library" he asked a nervous lingering around his voice as he looked down at me.

"Oh sure" I said still avoiding his gaze as I lead the way over to the library opening the door holding it out for him as we both stepped inside. "Have a look around I'll be over there if you need me"

"okay" he said walking off to explore the thousands of books as I took a seat where I usually would in the library resting my head on the table.
