Movie/Game : Resident Evil 4 Remake/N/a
--------------------
You were sent in as backup to this horrid place. Classified orders, No name, No briefing beyond "support Agent Kennedy in the field." That was enough for you to pack your things you needed back at the main base and leave without any further question. You trusted Leon, training with him here and there proved you could work with him. That you could trust yourself and your life in his hands and he in return could rely on you for the same thing. It had been a while since you first met him, spending hours back at base, training to become better, stronger, faster. You knew his backstory, what he has gone through in the past and persevered through it all. He was the number one man on the case when it came to bio terrorism threats and missions. While you didn't have much experience like he did, you had enough confidence in yourself that you could aid him in this highly important mission to save the president's daughter. That together you could get the job done and make it out of there hopefully unharmed...what a joke.
The village was already in chaos when you were deployed there. Bodies twisted by Las Plagas as the whole village was taken over. A town that reeked of death and burned flesh, dead farm animals laid in the mud as flies collected against their open wounds. You hit the ground running, gun in hand, orders on your back, and a gnawing sense of dread settling in your chest. You and Leon had fought side by side through worse. Or at least, that's what you told yourself once your journey out of the village proved that there could be worse and it just continued to get worse and worse through the castle and eventually when you two were separated upon reaching Ashley in the castle.
While she was forced to drink that liquid that seemed to speed up the process of the Las Plagas, Leon and you were grabbed by Ramon's body guards to be thrown down the pit. But while Leon was thrown you managed to stab enough of the bodyguards arm to make him drop you to the floor. Of course you didn't have a smooth exit, landing wrong against the floor as you were dropped from the monster that held you, being attacked the whole way as you escaped just barely as more monsters were sent to attack you and bring you back to be thrown into the pit as well. For all you knew Leon was dead at the bottom and you needed to try and make it out of here alive until you could come up with a new plan or at least until you could figure out if he truly perished. You were tired, your limbs ached as you continued to push yourself to keep going, to find a place where you could just take a second to heal your wounds and think things through.
It all happened so fast one moment the mission was going well, you almost had a glimmer of hope that you were all going to make it out of here alive. Then of course everything has to change in a mere matter of seconds. Of course she had to get captured as Leon and you were trapped near the statue to unlock another part of the castle. Of course in your efforts to retrieve her yet again were ruined and in the process you just had to be separated by the one person you felt you could trust, the one person you relied on most, the one person keeping you sane in this house of horrors.
Time had slowly passed, maybe an hour had gone by you weren't sure as you finally managed to make your way to a room. Losing the attention you had earlier after killing so many monsters set to chase after you. Your breath was uneven as you limped forward, your eyes went to your radio with a shaky hand. Holding it in your grasp as you thought about where Leon might have been in this very moment. Your vision started to blur as you pressed your hand to your side, pain pulses behind your eyes, your thoughts are thick and slow like molasses in winter. You know the signs, you've seen what happened to Ashley hours before when the Las Plagas took over her for a mere moment in the courtyard. Truth be told you've started to feel strange for a while, the parasite blooming beneath your skin, threading itself through your body and mind. You've been fighting it as you fought through the monsters here, pushing it aside to focus on your main task to get safe, heal up, try to contact your partner and hope you can continue the plan since it was the main priority. But it was just getting so hard to focus, to fight back.
