I walked into the living room and spoke to Lexine. "Sweetie we are going to have a home day. Wyatt isn't feeling good so Dr. Chase says that he has to stay in bed and nobody wants you to get sick too so you have to stay out of his room today ok?"
Looking around to make sure that nobody else was there, she said, "Ok mommy. Can I draw him a picture to make him feel better?"
"Yes, sweetie you can. Let's have breakfast first though."
After a quick breakfast of toast and eggs, I cleaned up the kitchen and went back to my room to grab my iPad and her crayons with some paper. I set her up in the living room and she got to work coloring and pausing to watch an educational show. I went back into the kitchen, turned on my iPad to a movie and started to make homemade chicken soup. Once I had the chicken in the stockpot with water boiling, I chopped celery, onions and carrots and added it in with some spices. Leaving it to simmer with the lid on, I went to check on Lexine. I had to laugh because she had drew him about 10 pictures! I had to say that they were pretty good. Some were pictures of the big stuffed dog he gave her, a few of Scuttle and the rest were flowers.
"Those are some beautiful pictures, Lexi!" I praised her. "Wyatt is going to love them!"
"These are get well flowers for him and the doggie and Scuttle will make him happy." she said happily.
"I'll take them with some tape and put them up in his room a little later, ok? I'm going to take him some juice and water, so I'll be right back."
"Ok."
She settled down to read a book and I went to the kitchen and found a plastic pitcher and filled it with ice and water. Taking a cup and grabbing a little bottle of apple juice, I headed back to Wyatt's room. I found him still sleeping and tried to gently set down the things without too much noise. Unfortunately, the ice in the pitcher clinked together loudly and his gorgeous hazel eyes opened up. Wyatt looked less flushed so I took his temperature. It was 99.5 which meant the Motrin was working and his fever was going down.
"I brought you some juice and ice water." I said quietly while smoothing his hair.
"Thank you." he croaked out.
Helping him sit up again, I opened the bottle of juice and let him sip some. After he drank about half the bottle he asked for some water. Pouring some out into the cup, I handed it to him. I put the cap back on the juice and thought about labeling it before I put it back in the fridge. Wyatt noticed me studying it and said in a little clearer voice, "My nightstand on this side is a mini fridge that you can put the juice in to keep it cold." I looked at him astonished. What a great idea! I totally wanted one for my room! It would be so perfect to be able to get a cold bottle of water in the middle of the night.
I reached down to the handle and pulled it open to reveal a few bottles of water and cans of soda. I set the juice inside and shut the door.
"Pretty good idea Wyatt. Did you think of it?"
He gave me a weak smile and shook his head. "No, Brady and I stayed at a hotel once with a nightstand like this. We liked it so much that Brady built some for the house. We went through a mini fridge stage and even put one in the living room. Preston had such a fit about us being too lazy to get off the couch and into the kitchen right next to it that Chase took it into his hot tub hut."
I laughed. "Hot tub hut? That's the perfect name for it!" He tried to stifle a yawn so I gave him a sympathetic look. "Can I do anything else for you Wyatt?"
He looked at me a little embarrassed. "I gotta use the bathroom. Can you help me out of bed?"
"No problem!" I said and bounced up to my feet. I helped him up and put his arm around my shoulders so that he could lean on me. When we reached the bathroom, he let go of me to grab onto the counter. "Can you shut the door for me?" he asked.
"You don't want me in there to help you stay steady?"
He gave me a look. "What?"
I rolled my eyes. "Oh, please. I've been married. It's not like I haven't seen one before. I actually did help Rick like this when he was recovering."
He shook his head. "Thank you for offering but I'm not showing myself to you for the first time while I'm sick and weak."
"Alright then. Just open the door when you're done. I'll help you back into bed." Shutting the door I stepped back and sat on the edge of the bed and waited. It didn't take him that long and as soon as I got him settled back into bed, I kissed his forehead and gave him a cuddle hug like I do for Lexine when she doesn't feel good.
"I wish I felt better so that I could enjoy this moment." Wyatt said with his voice a little muffled.
I looked down at him in amusement and giggled. His head was smushed up against my breasts. "I'll do this again when you feel better. I promise." I let go of him and he smiled at me. "I'm holding you to that."
Standing up, I said to him, "I'm cooking some chicken soup right now and it should be ready in about an hour, so why don't you take a nap and I'll bring you some later."
"Sounds good. I'll probably be hungry later." Wyatt said while yawning and rolled over. I smiled at him and left the room quietly shutting the door behind me. Men were such big babies when they were sick but I had a feeling that I would spoil each of these men when they didn't feel good.
