The husband's surgery went well and he is on the road to recovery. I'm a little less freaked out by work and taking everything one thing at a time. Writing is cathartic for me so I'm sneaking it in whenever I have a free moment. Enjoy...

I gave Lexine a bath and popped her into bed. While I waited for her to fall asleep, I washed my face and fixed my hair, changing it from a ponytail into a loose bun. All that jumping must have tired my girl out because when I came out of the bathroom, she was fast asleep. I left the room quietly and shut the door. As I went down the stairs, I realized that I was much less apprehensive about this family meeting than I was with the last one. I couldn't wait to be near them. Chase was right, I was affectionate by nature and it had been stifled for so long.

I could hear their voices as I neared the living room. I stood for a moment in entrance just admiring them. Each of them so different but all so handsome. Preston looked up and noticed me. The rest of them followed his gaze and Jake patted the seat next to him on the loveseat. I walked over and sat next to him.

The Meeting

Preston: We were discussing the fire today. Delphine, can you tell me how long that you have been having these premonition type dreams?

Delphine: They started when I was about ten. I don't have them very often. Just once in a great while before something big happens.

Jake: Do they only happen about certain people?

Delphine: I only get the dreams about people who I have a deep connection with.

Wyatt: When was the last dream you had? Before today's dream about me.

Delphine: The last time was before Rick died. I dreamed that he was telling me that he was leaving. I thought that it meant that he was going to rehab.

(Jake grabbed my hand holding it tight)

Chase: That is fascinating. There have been plenty of studies done on ESP and premonition dreams. Nothing conclusive of course, but I don't doubt that it's real. As a doctor I have seen too many miracles for me not to believe in a higher power. Prophetic dreams have even been recorded in the bible. Delphine, you have yet another amazing talent.

Brady: She definitely is one amazing woman. So glad I found her!

Preston: We are all thankful for you in our lives Delphine. Well, we have covered the events of the fire and it has turned out well. The Academy is baffled but pleased that there were no serious injuries or fatalities. We have earned ourselves some more favors. Does anybody have anything else to say before we conclude our meeting?

Wyatt: I have one thing that I'd like to say. I owe you Delphine. I'll get you whatever you want. Name it!

Delphine: Anything? Really?

Wyatt: Yes, anything you want!

Delphine: Cake.

Wyatt: Cake?

Delphine: Yes, cake. White cake, buttercream frosting and lemon filling. It's my favorite and Lexine's too.

Jake: He just offered you whatever you wanted and you ask for cake?

Delphine: Yeah, what's wrong with that?

Brady: Not a new purse or shoes or jewelry?

Delphine: No, Preston already took me shopping today. I've got all that.

Chase: You could have asked for a car.

Preston: I already offered her that the other day and she declined. She just wanted her car fixed. The lady has asked for cake. I suggest that Wyatt get her a pretty one. Her favorite kind. Meeting adjourned!
