5 Reasons To Love Again

Chapter 66

Short update! I got a break from work and was inspired to write. Enjoy!

I heard the beep of the alarm beeping faintly. Making a small sound of protest, I buried my face further in the warm hard pillow. My pillow rumbled and shook a little. Cracking open one eye, I realized that my "pillow" was actually Wyatt's chest and he was laughing at me.

"Good Morning Darling." He said to me and kissed my head. "I hope that I didn't wear you out too much! Preston will kill me since he gets to spend the day with you. He wanted to take you shopping remember?"

I rolled onto my back and yawned and stretched before answering him. "I remember. I've just never really been a morning person."

"Really? You are always up and ready to go when I see you in the mornings."

"I have to for Lexine so I just fake it in the mornings." I said giggling.

Wyatt swatted my hip. "You sure weren't faking it last night!"

I blushed and said, "No, I wasn't faking it. That was intense but I liked it."

"Good. Now we need to get washed and dressed for the day. I have to work today and deal with people who have no common sense."

"Are your clients that bad?"

"Darling, you have no idea. Let me give you an example. Last week there was a woman who had her printer on the ground. I asked her why it was there and she said it was so that gravity would help the information go down the wires to the printer faster so she didn't understand why it wasn't printing. It was hooked up to the computer but the printers power cord wasn't plugged in. I showed her that and she thought that the printer would be getting it power from the computer through the data cord since that is how her iPod charged."

I looked at him in disbelief. "You have to be making that up!"

"Sadly, I'm not. Oh, the stories that I could tell you..." he sighed. "But not this morning, up and at 'em!"

I threw the covers off and searched for my gown and robe. I found the gown on the ground next to the bed and bent over to get it. I heard Wyatt mutter, "Oh, yeah." I gave him a questioning look after pulling it on.

"Aww... my free show is over and I don't get to see you again till tonight." he complained.

I laughed at him and pulled the robe on and tied it shut. "I'll see you later Wyatt." Crossing over to where he stood gloriously naked and slightly aroused, I gave him a kiss on the cheek and left the room dodging a spank on the butt from him.

Back into my room, I took a short bath to relieve some aching muscles that weren't used to such a workout on a nightly basis. At least I was getting some exercise! I got Lexine up and ready for school. Since I would be spending the day with Preston and he was the most formal out of all the guys, I opted for an outfit dressier than jeans and a shirt. I found a knee length circle skirt in black and cardigan and shell in black with white polka dots. White beaded earrings and necklace with black booties, my outfit was complete. Dusting on a light amount of makeup with a red lipgloss in a hurry, I grabbed Lexine and hustled downstairs to make sure that she would be able to eat breakfast before school started.

Walking into the dining room, I found that someone had already taken care of breakfast with an assortment of donuts, pastries and sausage and eggs in to-go containers. Preston was setting out plates and paused to take in my appearance.

"You look wonderful Delphine." he complimented me. "So do you Lexine." looking at her outfit of bright pink jeans and matching shirt. She smiled and went to go sit in a chair before pointing to the donut that she wanted. Pink sprinkled of course! Preston set down the last plate before placing a scoop of scrambled eggs and a sausage patty on her plate with the donut.

"Eggs and sausage first before the donut Lexine." I told her as I poured her a glass of milk. She nodded and started to eat. I opted for some orange juice before I getting a muffin with eggs and sausage. Preston did the same and sat next to me. He lifted his hand and stroked my cheek.

"You look a little tired. Are you sure that you are up to shopping today? Did you want some more rest first?"

"No, I'm fine Preston. I don't need more rest. If I'm more tired than usual tonight, I'll just go to bed earlier."

Preston leaned over to whisper in my ear, "It's my turn tonight. I don't mind if you want to go to bed early."

I blushed and didn't answer since Jake and Brady walked in and sat down at the table. They both gave me knowing grins and I blushed more and kept my eyes down on my plate. Preston took pity on me and changed the subject to shopping again. It seems that all the guys had their own ideas of what kind of dress I should get for tomorrow night. I was amused and exchanged a smile with Lexine.

When we were done eating, Jake and Brady started to clear off the table and Preston said that we would take Lexine to school and then go shopping in Charleston. I nodded and told him that I was just going to get something in the kitchen first. He looked mystified but nodded and held his hand out for Lexine. In the kitchen, opening a cabinet, I found a reusable coffee mug with a lid.

Jake walked in and glancing at the mug in my hand offered to fill it with coffee. I smiled and shook my head no. Grabbing a can of coke out of the fridge, I poured it into the coffee mug. Brady walked in.

"What are you doing Buttercup?"

"I need caffeine so..."

Jake butted in, "So... no coffee or an energy drink?"

I made a face and said, "No, they taste terrible." and fastened the lid onto the mug.

"Cheers!" I said lifting the mug in salute to them and walked out of the kitchen giggling.

Preston was waiting by the front door with Lexine. He raised an eyebrow at the mug in my hand.

"Caffeine." I said in explanation. I let him assume that it was coffee since I had feeling that he would object to soda so early in the day. It wasn't something I did often but when I was a little tired or my breakfast sat kind of heavy in my stomach like it was today. (Must have been the sausage) We headed out to the family car and drove off. I sipped at my mug feeling better after a few minutes. Soon we were at Lexine's school and parked the car so that we could walk her in.

Both of us gave her a hug and kiss and she walked down the hallway to her classroom and disappeared inside. I felt pride in Lexine's progress and also a sense of loss that I wasn't needed so much anymore. Preston seemed to understand and put his arm around me as we walked out.

"It must feel funny having her starting to develop independence."

"Yeah, it does but at the same time I'm happy that she is."

"That is because you are a great mom." he said and kissed the top of my head as he opened the car door for me. He always gave me a wonderful feeling when he complimented me like that.

"You are pretty good at being a dad for someone with no practice." I told him as he put on his seat belt.

He looked surprised and then happy. "I wasn't sure if a permanent relationship and parenthood were in my future but then I met you and all of a sudden I could see it. It won't matter to me if you have a biological child with me, I'd like it but if for some reason it wasn't possible it wouldn't matter because any baby of yours, I will consider mine. I already consider Lexine as my daughter."

My heart swelled and burst. "And that is why I love you." I told him carefully watching his face and reaction. It took a few seconds for the words to sink in and his eyes widened and he reached for me. The seatbelt of course held him back and he impatiently undid it, grabbing my face as soon as he was free and kissed me sweetly. "Oh God, I love you too!" he said before kissing me again. I tried to move closer to him but my seatbelt was still on. Blindly fumbling for the release button, I jumped when I heard a sharp knock on the car window next to me.
