I liked this

The next couple of days seemed to fly by, one moment you and Nines were out shopping and the next you were baking again (with less mess this time) to now being sat on the sofa together in silence.

It wasn't awkward silence or anything, it had just dawned on you both that you'd be going back to work in less than twenty hours. You knew it was coming but after the conversation with Fowler you dreaded it even more now.

Not only would you not be able to work on your case, but you'd lose Nines for half the day.

As well as having to prepare for your testimony as a victim.

You knew Nines felt guilty that he'd have to leave you halfway through the day.

"It's been a nice couple of weeks." You mumbled, just to break the silence between you two.

It had been a wonderful two weeks, you and Nines had never been so close to one another. Your bond had strengthened and so had your attraction to him.

"It has been, I have experienced a lot with you." Nines agreed which made you feel better, you were happy that he had enjoyed the things that the two of you had done.

"The new experiences won't stop, they'll just be less frequent." You reassured Nines who nodded his head softly at you, you'd still find new things for him to try even when you were back at work.

Nines timidly held his arms out to you, beckoning you to come over to him. There was no way you were saying no to cuddles, so you scooted across the sofa until you were in grabbing distance of Nines, who wasted no time in pulling you into his chest.

You felt him bury his face into your hair as his soft synthetic breath tickled the top of your head.

"I liked this." Nines mumbled his voice muffled by your hair.

"Liked what?" You questioned not being completely sure on what he meant, what had he liked?

"Being really close. With you." Nines mumbled he'd somehow managed to make his voice sound tired like a human, it was quite attractive.

"I liked it too..." You did enjoy it, which is what made going back to work so hard, "but it's not going to end."

"Yes it will. We will go back to work, I will need to leave you alone in the afternoon and we will not see each other until the end of the day." Nines complained as he pulled his face away from your head, letting out a pained huff.

"I know... but we'll still see each other and at the end of the day you'll be coming home with me." You attempted to reassure Nines, yet it pained you just as much.

"But I want to stay with you at work." Nines sulked as he shifted his body a small amount, he was acting like a three year old who had just been told it's bed time.

"And I want to stay with you dummy. You know it hurts me just as much... I wish you didn't have to leave in the afternoon." You sniffed out trying to keep your sadness at bay.

"I will bring you a drink every hour, whether you need the drink or not. I shall bring you one." He declared as he pulled your head up so you were looking into his eyes. "Okay?"

"But you might get into trouble." You pointed out to which he just shrugged.

"I do not care, they can yell at me if they like." Nines said completely unbothered by the idea of getting into trouble.

"Have I ever told you that you're the best partner ever?" You asked him, he instantly raised an eyebrow at you.

"Perhaps, I am not sure." He responded as he pushed his lips out.
