Normal P.O.V
You had ten minutes left until Nines was back with you permanently, the afternoon had dragged so much. Nines had checked on you so much, as well as Hank a couple of times.
After the first time Hank had checked in on you, Nines seemed off the next time he came up. When you had asked him if he was okay, he told you he was fine. That he just missed you.
You weren't completely convinced by his response, but you accepted it anyway.
The only person who hadn't come to see you was obviously Connor, you would have liked to say that it bothered you.
But it didn't.
It would have been awkward for you.
Now all you were focused on was that soon you'd be home with Nines, where he'd probably make you dinner. Then the two of you could watch your tv series, everything would be back to normal.
"You know if you stare at that piece of paper work for much longer your vision will blur." A voice called out to you, the exact voice you wanted to hear right now. You snapped your head up to see Nines stood in front of you.
His arms were behind his back in his usual position, his head slightly tilted to the side.
"That was the point, then I wouldn't have to read anymore." You claimed, it wasn't true. You'd lost interest in it about thirty minutes ago.
"I see... then next time I shall not mention it." Nines stated as he gave you a secretive smile.
"You're early." You pointed out to Nines, who nodded his head softly, but showed no sign of explaining why. "Why are you early?"
"I chose to come up here, Hank did not say anything when I left, so it obviously does not bother him." Nines stated with a small shrug, he was looking around the office area very casually.
"You're being weird, Nines..." You commented as his eyes snapped back to look at you, his eyes searched yours frantically.
"I am fine, I would just like to leave before they come upstairs." Nines told you in a low voice, you nodded and stood from your chair, grabbing your jacket as you went.
"Just let me write a note to Hank, so he doesn't think we're avoiding him." You mumbled as you grabbed a pen and a post-it note.
You scribbled a quick excuse down onto it and placed it onto Hanks messy desk hoping he'd find it.
Or at least Connor would notice it.
"Let's go." You called out as you moved towards Nines, who looked relieved to know he was leaving now.
Nines was silent the entire walk to the car, you started to think that something had happened during afternoon. But you couldn't think like that, he probably just wanted to get home and spend time with you.
Yet you were still worried.
Once you were in the car you turned your head and looked at Nines in a skeptical way, he slowly turned his head to look at you as well. His eyes going wide when he saw you already looking his way.
"Nines... no offence, but you are being really weird." You told him as he stared back at you, no evident emotion in his eyes.
"I know what you mean... however I would rather leave this conversation for when we arrive back at home." Nines finally said, a small sigh leaving him.
"Yeah of course..." You responded to him, seeing the defeat on his face.
Now you knew that something had happened.
