After going through a lot of the evidence with Nines the prosecutor let out an over exaggerated sigh.

"Is it true that you and your partner were subjected to one of these attacks?" He asked Nines whose eyes flicked into your direction before back to the prosecutor.

"Yes." Nines answered as photos of your house came up onto the screen, from that night.

You couldn't help it when your eyes widened, you had to slam your hand over your mouth to stop yourself from making any noise.

"Tell me about it." The prosecutor basically demanded.

"It was an ordinary evening, until I heard movement coming from a different part of the house." Nines began to explain to the courtroom. "We moved through the house with my partners side arm, until we were both ambushed by the defendants people."

"Objection, your honour! Speculation!" The defence attorney called out as you watched Nines fix them with a hard glare.

"Sustained."

"I apologise, as I was saying we were attacked. I attempted to help my partners, however they hurt her every time I tried to help. They called upon their leader who told them they were on their way, I can play you the audio memory of the conversation. I heard it all."

You were speechless at this, Nines had never told you that he heard some of the conversation.

"Did you hear their voice clearly?"

"I did not." Nines answered as he looked down at the wooden stand he was stood at.

"What happened after that?"

"One of the men dragged my partner away, further into the house." Nines told prosecutor as a heavy lump formed into your throat, you'd soon have to talk about it all yourself.

"From a machines point of view, what was that like? Watching the human who you worked closely with get dragged away?"

"It was failure, I failed one of my main tasks. Protecting my partner." Nines answered as he looked towards the screen once more, you had no idea how he was really feeling in this moment.

"But you managed to apprehend the man who held you captive?"

"I did, as did my partner. However her assailant did not survive, she fought for her life like any other living creature does. It was instinct." Nines continued, you had already made so many guesses on the type of questions the defence would ask him.

"But you don't consider yourself a victim?"

"I do not. I was not the intended Android target, one of my other partners was. They had us confused because we are the same model type."

"This next question may be hard for you to answer as you don't have emotions, but how do you think your partner felt during this attack?"

"Objection! Relevance?!" The defence called out the judge glanced at the prosecutor then to Nines.

"Overruled."

"I do not need to have emotions to know how she felt, I know she was terrified. She screamed for me so many times, but I knew if I tried to help her it would end her life. One of my instructions is to protect my partner, even if it means destruction of myself." Nines answered the original question, you could see in his eyes he was having a hard time more than ever now.

"Hypothetically, if you did have emotions, how do you think you would have felt?"

"Terrified. If I was an Android with emotions I would have been scared to lose not only my life but also my partners." Nines told the prosecution who nodded his head at Nines.
