The next day, 8:46am

Today was the day.

The first day back and nothing but dread sat in your stomach.

You weren't even sure if you were ready to go back.

"You need to eat." Nines stated as he pushed the plate of toast towards you, only for you to push it back towards him.

"I'm not hungry." You mumbled.

Nines clicked his tongue at you. "Yes, you are hungry. Yet you are also nervous, breakfast is very important so you will eat it." With that he pushed the plate back towards you.

With a sigh you begrudgingly grabbed a piece of toast from the plate and began to nibble on it, hoping it would satisfy him.

"More." Nines ordered as he encouraged you to take a bigger bite.

"Stop parenting me."

"Then stop acting like a child and I will." Nines commented as you huffed and took a larger bite from the toast. "Much better."

The moment you'd finished you had to leave for work, it was time to go back to normality.

You climbed into your car and sighed quietly, after buckling yourself in you started the engine.

"You can do this." You whispered to yourself.

"Yes, you can." Nines reassured as you glanced his way, his LED was glowing yellow.

"I can."

With that you set off towards the station, your first destination was Fowlers office. To be reunited with your badge and gun, you'd gone two weeks without having them constantly.

You wondered if it would feel weird to have them back.

The journey passed by quickly and you were already walking towards the station, your nerves rising to the point your throat felt tight. You'd never been this nervous to go to work, it was your life.

You loved your job.

"Y/N, you are extremely nervous. Would you like to stop to calm down?" Nines asked as he tugged on your jacket sleeve, you turned to him with panicked eyes.

"If I do I won't go in." You told Nines who looked at you with nothing but sympathy.

"Yes you will, you just need to calm down. Your heart rate is abnormally high, it is not healthy." Nines commented, his LED whirling yellow then red. "Look me in the eyes, breathe deeply and count to ten."

Without even needing to be told again you did exactly that, it wasn't hard to look Nines in the eyes. His eyes were beautiful, you did this several times until Nines cracked a smile.

"That is much better." Nines stated as you nodded.

"Thank you." You mumbled to him.

"Do not thank me, I care for you." Nines whispered back to you, making sure no unwanted ears heard anything they shouldn't. "Now shall we go and get your badge and gun?"

"Yes."

With your nerves calmed you held your head high and confidently walked into the station like you had never left at all. Some people seemed shocked to see you back, others just seemed uninterested.

The moment you entered the desk area your eyes locked onto Fowlers office.

'Get your gun and badge and continue to be the badass cop you are. It's not that hard Y/N.' You told yourself as you moved straight towards his office.
