The next day
You and Nines had just arrived at work, you were still giddy from last night, knowing that Nines was now your boyfriend. He hadn't changed, he already felt like he was your boyfriend before. He made you breakfast and did everything, refusing to let you do anything.
But now you were at work a lump sat in your throat, it was one you couldn't swallow. You didn't want to accidentally slip up and mention it to anyone. You also didn't want to seem too happy, and you certainly didn't want to deal with Connor.
"Is everything okay?" Nines queried, you looked over at him as the two of you moved towards the station.
"Yeah, just need to tone down the happy so I don't give you or us away." You answered, hurriedly as his LED flashed amber before returning to blue.
"Oh... yes I forgot about that. I apologise that you have to do that, I promise I am trying to work out when is the best time to tell everyone about me." Nines sighed, a slightly disappointed look on his face.
"Nines, it's okay. Take your time, I'm not going to rush you simply because we're in a relationship now." You told him in a hushed voice.
"I know, I just do not want you to think that I may be embarrassed by you or something. I am not, I would tell anyone in a heart beat." Nines admitted, it was cute that he thought you might feel like he was embarrassed to be with you.
"I didn't think that, I just don't want to expose you by accident." You explained to Nines, who nodded his head lightly at you.
"It is fine if you do, I will not be annoyed or angry. We will just have to adapt, I do not want you to feel like you have to keep your emotions locked up, so do not do that." Nines said as he smiled at you, you smiled back at him and nodded your head at him.
"Got it." You mumbled as Nines pulled the door open for you, the two of you walked in and headed straight for your desk.
As you approached you noticed Hank sat at his desk, but Connor was no where to be seen yet. You casually moved towards your desk, Hank noticed you as soon as you got closer to him.
"Morning, you two." He called out to you both, he sounded quite chirpy this morning. You weren't sure whether you should be concerned or happy.
"Morning Hank." You responded to him as you pulled your chair out from under your desk, Nines close behind you.
You sat down and let out a small sigh, you knew this morning would be going through the case you were supposed to be solving yesterday afternoon. You hadn't gotten very far with it because you were so distracted the entire afternoon, even when you had Nines with you, neither of you had been very focused.
Both you and Nines were now sat at your shared desk, you felt so on edge. Even though Nines had said that he didn't care if you accidentally revealed him, you were still terrified to do it.
You knew a lot of people would be upset by it, some would be happy. But it was too much of a risk, especially if they found out how long he had actually been a Deviant.
"You good, Y/N?" Hank asked across from you, you shook yourself from your thoughts and nodded your head lightly.
"I'm okay, just tired." You answered with a tiny smile on your face.
"You sure?"
"Yeah why?" You quizzed Hank who shrugged his shoulders at you.
Why was Hank being weird?
"Hank."
"We're supposed to be getting the date of the trial soon..." Hank breathed out, your breath seemed to get stuck in your throat, as the sound of your own heartbeat rang in your ears. "I didn't know if you'd been told yet..."
