Nines P.O.V
The time had come for me to leave Y/N's side, Hank had dragged lunch on for as long as he could so Y/N was not alone for longer. I believe I was the only one to notice him doing this.
I did not even have to scan Y/N to see that she was upset, her eyes stared down at her desk while Hank spoke to RK800 and I.
I was partially paying attention to him, but Y/N was the only thing on my mind currently.
She refused to move her eyes up to look at anyone, I hated this.
Leaving her alone felt wrong, she was my partner. You do not leave your partner behind.
I knew that I had to leave her, to get justice for her.
To get justice for the lasting effects it has had on her.
"Blue eyes!" Hank called out to me, my attention finally snapped towards him.
"Yes?" I questioned for some reason.
"Are you listening to a word I've said?" Hank asked me as I stared at him blankly.
"Of course I have, you said that you do not want me and RK800 here to argue like children and that if we do you will hit us both, which by the way would not hurt. You then said we must each pick a type of evidence to go through first." I replied to him as his mouth dropped open before he closed it again with a scowl on his face.
"Smart ass." Hank grumbled as he then continued to talk.
But my attention drew back to Y/N, I knew she needed the real me. Yet I could not be there for her like that.
"Hey, blue eyes make Y/N a drink then meet us down there." Hank called out to me, I wanted to immediately sigh in relief, but I could not. It would display some sort of emotion and RK800 was watching me like a hawk.
"Of course, Lieutenant... I mean Hank." I responded as he nodded his head then pulled RK800 to follow him.
The moment they were out of my sight I sat down in my chair next to Y/N's.
"Y/N?"
"It's fine, Nines, just go... I'll be fine. I'm not thirsty." Y/N mumbled as she finally raised her head and looked towards her terminal.
Out of habit I scanned her only to see that her hormone levels were all over the place, she clearly did not know what emotion she was really feeling.
"I do not care whether you are thirsty or not. I care about what is going on with you." I stated as she turned her head to look at me, the sadness in her eyes displayed for everyone to see.
"I don't want you to go... I have no idea what you three are going to be doing down there. I won't be there to stop you from lashing out if Connor is an ass. I won't be there if you get upset, I won't-"
"Y/N, stop." I cut her off as she closed her mouth and stared at me. "I will be fine, if that does happen I shall make the excuse to come make you a drink just so I can speak with you." I reassured her as she sighed, she was not the only one who hated this. I did too.
My programming had no say in my life anymore, but a small part of me felt like I was now programmed to stay by her side.
It always seemed silly to me, but I had now come to terms with the fact that it was just because we had a strong bond.
Or at least that was the conclusion I came up with.
"You best do, or you're sleeping on the couch tonight. And don't give me the 'I don't sleep' speech. You know what I mean." She said throwing her hands up into the air, I couldn't help but smile at how exasperated she was.
