"Baby! Oh my God, yall were so cute!" Lily screamed to Seungmin, who was in the bathroom, draining the bathtub and drying the floor.
He peeked his head through the door that separated the bathroom from the bedroom and furrowed his brows.
Lily held up the phone, displaying the pictures Hyunjin had just sent her.
"Oh my God. That didn't take long." Seungmin replied sarcastically as he shook his head. "I'm done cleaning. I'll be in here after I brush my teeth."
"So who sent the pictures?" He called out as he prepared his toothbrush.
"Jinnie!" She called back with an excited tone.
Seungmin nodded and rolled his eyes at his reflection. "Figures." He scoffed to himself before shoving the toothbrush in his mouth.
He felt guilty, knowing that Chan was now upset. He wanted to check on him, but he knew that he preferred to be left alone. He rinsed and dried his mouth, then headed to the room and tackled Lily, who was sitting up against the headboard, with an amused smile, studying the pictures.
After a few playful kisses, he asked, "So, what pictures did he send?"
Lily held her phone out so that he could see. "These are hilarious." She stated, pointing to the last couple of pictures. "Ahh! Yall are too cute! I need to see this as soon as possible!" She squealed and bounced with excitement.
Seungmin shook his head and chuckled with amusement. "You will, beautiful. There's already been song suggestions."
She squealed enthusiastically as she clapped her hands rapidly. "I'm so excited!"
He laughed again at her adorable reactions before adding, "-but you're gonna have to let us practice first. It's been forever since we danced. Well, other than Hyunjin. He's always spent his free time either in the training room, dancing, drawing, or painting."
Lily arched her brows and said curiously, "Hmm, I didn't know that. Who is this other guy in the pictures?"
Seungmin pursed his lips together and took a deep breath. "That's Woojin. He was the 9th member of SKZ and Chan's closest friend."
He laid flat on his back and stretched out his arms, inviting her to join him. She cuddled against him, with her head resting on his chest. He brushed and twirled her hair in his fingers as he continued.
"About 5 years ago, we had a mission. It was a basic, easy in and out operation. A military truck transporting weapons had been stolen. The National Security Investigation Bureau suspected it was Astro- a small group that had just moved into the area, so they hired us to get what they needed to proceed with the case. Chan and Woojin went in undercover as buyers, and as always, some of us were positioned nearby for backup. It should have been as simple as 'make the deal, plant a bug, and call it a day.' Apparently, the Bureau had just hired a janitor who they didn't know was a member Astro and he had been leaking information. They knew our intentions before Chan even made contact with them to set up the meeting."
Seungmin paused for a moment to gather his thoughts. Lily could sense his tension so she held onto him tighter as he explained.
"Chan and Woojin made the deal, and we thought everything was perfect, then all hell broke loose. As soon as they turned their backs to leave, they were captured. The leader had a knife to Woojin's throat, and they made Chan watch as they killed him. They were about to pull the trigger on Chan when we busted in."
A tear dropped from Lily's eye as she raised up to look at Seungmin. "I'm so sorry, Minnie. I can't imagine-" she paused when she remembered a previous conversation. "That's why you didn't answer my question- when we were setting up for the IKON mission, I asked if any of you have ever been hurt on a mission-"
Seungmin nodded. "Astro is our first and only failed mission. Chan wasn't the same after that. Hell, we didn't start seeing the old Chan again until you walked into our lives." He stated confidently as he gently tucked her hair behind her ear.
A tornado of emotions swirled around her. She felt sadness for the loss of their 9th member. She felt happiness that Chan made it out alive. She felt fear that something like that could possibly happen. And she felt joy and pride that she was partially responsible for Chan's healing over the situation. "Does Channie ever talk about what happened?" She asked with concern evident in her tone.
He shook his head, "We learned fast not to bring it up. We haven't talked about Woojin since we buried him."
Lily furrowed her brows and said, "I won't bring it up again. And if it's too difficult, you don't have to dance for me."
Seungmin smiled, "No, beautiful, we're gonna put on a whole concert for you. I promise."
A smile stretched across her face before she stretched out for a kiss, which was interrupted but a sudden thought. "Oh! Han sings a song to me all the time. It's my favorite. 'I am You.' Is there a dance for that one?"
Seungmin chuckled and pulled her back down to him, "Yes beautiful, there is and it will be the first one we perform for you." He pressed his lips against hers before turning the lamp off and engulfing her in his embrace.
