"I just- I need my family to be safe." Lily said as she broke eye contact and shifted her gaze to Hyunjin's painting, lying on the floor a few feet away.
JK took a deep breath and replied in a calm and soothing tone. "Sparky- Do something for me-"
She diverted her attention back to him as he continued. "Hear me out- like really listen to what I have to say. And when I ask you a question, I want you to answer it as honestly as you can. Can you do that for me?"
She closed her eyes and sighed before nodding as she leaned to the side, resting her head on his shoulder.
He tilted his head and rested it against hers as he chuckled. "And don't go to sleep on me either."
She let out a quick laugh through her soft cries. "I won't. Get on with it."
He smiled as he arched one knee and draped his arm over it. "You know Lil Quokka is required to report certain things to me. He called me the night they found out you were kidnapped- I had never heard him so broken hearted-"
*Flashback*
Han went into the downstairs headquarters and sat at his computer. For a moment, he stared blankly into the empty screen. Tears streamed down his face as he replayed the last 24 hours in his mind.
He dragged his hand down his face and leaned forward to power on the computer. He accessed the government database and pulled everything he could find on Lily.
He had spent hours uncovering the details of her life, leading to the kidnapping. He was in a state of shock at the number of abuse reports- both physical and sexual- that were made- yet were not followed up on. The number of emergency room visits in multiple locations where she was treated for broken bones, cuts, and concussions. All were labeled as 'accidental falls' or 'bike accidents.'
The news articles he found revealing that at only eight years old, she had witnessed her father beat her mother before turning a gun on himself. She made the call for help.
As the information he'd compiled printed, he hesitantly picked up his phone and made the call.
JK: Why the fuck are you calling me in the middle of the goddamn night? You better have something good
Han stayed silent for a brief moment, trying to control the sobs that were trying to escape him.
JK: Quokka? Are you cry-
"I've got something. It involves me and the team." He managed to take a deep breath and swallow the lump that had formed in his throat.
JK: Fuck. I'm listening.
He brushed his hand through his hair as he began to explain, "Chan had JYP arrange another sub contract- she arrived yesterday, but we found out today that she was kidnapped and brought here from America."
JK: GODDAMMIT. Get all the info-
"It's printing now." He interrupted as he glanced at the printer. "And I've got the contract that was supposedly signed. We think JYP may have been involved in the actual kidnapping, but we're still working on those details."
JK: Get that shit to me asap. Is the girl ok?
"No, but yes? Fuck." He stood up and began aimlessly pacing around the room. "I have no clue. She's obviously freaked out- and things happened to her before we figured everything out. But despite all that- she still laughed through dinner and acted like nothing was wrong. Acted like we were her best friends. She even asked to stay so JYP doesn't get suspicious of our knowledge while we investigate."
