Chan sat at the head of the conference table and prepared the footage of the interview to be displayed through the wall moniter. "Hwang said it was enough to cripple Kwon's operation. I guess we'll see."
"And you said he was granted immunity?" Han questioned, with a hint of anger in his tone.
Chan nodded his head and replied, "Yes. Only because Hwang is expecting us to assassinate him soon after his release."
Before anyone else could speak, the footage began to play.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: I'll talk, but I need full immunity.
DIRECTOR HWANG: I'll bite. You give me what I consider to be valuable information, and I'll grant full immunity.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: Your precious little golden boys and their little play toy are Kwon's biggest targets.
DIRECTOR HWANG: You're gonna have to do better than that. Tell me something I don't know. Where is Kwon?
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: I don't know.
DIRECTOR HWANG: You don't seem to want that immunity deal.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: No one knows. It's protocol when our operation has been breeched.
DIRECTOR HWANG: I'm listening. Who is 'our?'
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: Kwon's organization.
DIRECTOR HWANG: Tell me about the organization. Who they are. Where to find them.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: Ha. You won't find them all. They're everywhere. We're an elite group. Mostly mercenaries. We're specifically trained to blend into normal society. Government officials. Political figures. Military of all ranks. Medical professionals. Teachers. Law enforcement. Inside rival mafia organizations. Hell, we even had one inside the SKZ alliance until she went soft and tried to back out of her duties. Not sure where she is though. We assumed she killed herself off after betraying her precious friends. Now- do we have a deal?
DIRECTOR HWANG: Ok. Deal. This member of the SKZ alliance. I assume you mean Choi Lia of Itzy?
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: That's the one. She got too attached to her target. Started getting sloppy. Definitely pissed off the boss when she caused Brian a little too much damage on her last mission.
DIRECTOR HWANG: Tell you what. Give me a list of names- and I'll sweeten your deal. I'll fly you out of this country on a private plane.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: I can give you their assumed identities, well- at least the ones I know of. But their real identities no longer exist.
DIRECTOR HWANG: Alright. Now- Back to Brian. Is he alive?
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: No one knows for sure. Last confirmed Intel is that he was in a medical-induced coma. I've heard rumors that he didn't make it, but nothing to support it. If he does make it- he won't stop until he has that little piece of ass he's chasing after.
DIRECTOR HWANG: What are your orders during Kwon's absence?
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: Lay low. Keep quiet until orders come through.
DIRECTOR HWANG: Orders from who?
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: Kwon. When he's ready to strike, he sends our orders and operation plans via certified mail. Surprise surprise- one of ours runs the local postal service. Until we get that packet- we know nothing.
DIRECTOR HWANG: I'm curious. What made you decide to talk- other than immunity.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: A chance to run. Look. I've been in this group for a long time, and I've never seen it unravel the way it is. I'll be damned if I get caught on the losing side of a multi organization mafia war.
DIRECTOR HWANG: So why not go to prison? Wouldn't that be safer?
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: Ha. As I said- Kwon's men are everywhere. Including the prison system.
DIRECTOR HWANG: Anything else I need to know before I leave you to making that list?
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR KIM: Nope. I believe that about covers it boss. Happy hunting.
DIRECTOR HWANG: You make me sick.
The screen went blank, matching the expressions of each person at the table.
"Do we have the list?" Seungmin emotionlessly asked.
Chan shook his head. "Yep. It's a long one."
Hyunjin lounged back in his seat. "How long?"
Chan pursed his lips together. "At least 100."
"Fuck." Han hissed. "And he said that's just what he knows of."
"So do we just start taking them out one by one?" Leeknow asked, clearly frustrated with the situation.
Chan shook his head. "No. We need to know when Kwon makes a move and apparently, the only way to do that is to wait for him to send the orders. In the meantime- we'll get with JK and work out a plan. He'll more than likely want to track and gather Intel so we know what we're up against."
"That could take months. What if Kwon shows up before then?" Hyunjin argued.
Chan scrubbed his hand down his face and replied. "Listen- keep in mind how many people we have on our side. We can-"
Lily rolled her eyes and slung her head back with an audible huff. "How many Chan? Tell me. How many do we have? Because it seems to me that we can't trust a single goddamn person!"
All eyes immediately locked on her. Chan sighed and softened his expression. "Babygi-"
"No Chan. Don't." She interrupted as she stood to her feet. "The fucking security guard who was supposed to protect us was one of them. The fucking assistant director of central intelligence is one of them. Goddammit, Lia! Lia was one of them! Who the hell knows who else! Fuck! They're everywhere and they're all after us. Why? Because of me. That's why."
The men sat stunned at Lily's outburst. Several tried to speak up, but their attempts were overshadowed by her trembling, rage filled tone.
"Now yall are in danger! Our baby is in danger! Some mother I am! Fuck!" She shoved her chair out of the way and turned to storm off.
Seungmin, who was sitting next to her, tried to reach for her, but was immediately swatted away. "Don't fucking touch me!" She screamed as she kept walking.
Leeknow stood to follow her, but was quickly stopped by Seungmin. "Don't. Just let her go."
