"Jesus. She's been out there for thirty minutes. Has anyone checked on her?" Han asked as he stepped into the kitchen and peeked out the sliding glass door.
Seungmin had been standing at the window watching her carefully while still giving her the space she needed. Without shifting his gaze, he replied. "Chan went to get a couple of blankets. We're about to go out there to talk to her."
Leeknow, who was at the stove dumping vegetables into the soup he was preparing for lunch, glanced back at him and asked. "Did you talk to JK?"
Han straddled the stool at the bar and nodded his head. "Yep. He's going over everything and gonna get back with us. It may be a day or two."
"Lily's right, ya know." Hyunjin mumbled, just loud enough to be heard, drawing the attention of the group. "I've known Lia my whole life. She's one of them, and we never had a clue. How are we supposed to know who we can and can't trust?"
Chan, who overheard as he stepped into the kitchen carrying a small stack of folded blankets, replied. "Go read through the transcripts. We'll discuss how to proceed after we talk with JK. Until then- we focus on bringing Lily's stress level down."
Seungmin opened the sliding door, stepping aside to allow Chan to exit. After closing the door, he followed Chan to the beach.
Lily sat in the sand with her knees to her chest, staring blankly over the ocean's horizon. She had finally stopped her sobs, yet tears still slowly rolled down her cheeks.
Just before they got to her, Seungmin took a blanket from the top of the stack and held the seam, giving it a quick snap, to let it fly open.
Lily flinched out of her trance and snapped her head back to find the two she had just taken her anger out on. Guilt flushed over her, causing her cries to reappear as she turned away, burying her head in her arms in shame. "I'm so so sor-"
"No ma'am. Look at me." Chan softly interrupted as he dropped the remaining blankets on top of the one Seungmin had just spread out next to her.
Lily hesitantly looked back at them. "I'm sorry. I-"
"Babygirl, it's already forgotten. Come here." He said as he reached out for her, helping her to her feet.
He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to his chest. He kissed her forehead as Seungmin placed his hand on her lower back, kissing the back of her head.
"Are you ok, beautiful?" Seungmin asked when she turned her head to look at him.
Her chin began to quiver as the only response to his question.
Chan pressed his lips to the top of her head as Seungmin brushed her hair from her face. "Hey. It's ok, baby. We're gonna figure this out."
"Let's sit, ok?" Chan said, pulling away from her and taking her hand to guide her to the blanket with him. She laid with her head in his lap as Seungmin settled in beside her, unfolding another blanket to drape over her.
"Babygirl, do you wanna talk about it, or do you wanna just sit here?" Chan asked, tucking the blanket under her.
"I don't even know what to say. It would be fantastic if I could actually live instead of just surviving." She replied with a trembling tone struggling to control her emotions. "My mother kept me in danger, and now, I'm doing the same damn thing."
Seungmin rested his hand on her stomach and rubbed his thumb back and forth. "You realize that she- and you are probably more protected than anyone on this planet?"
"And I never want to hear you equate yourself to your mother. Our little girl is going to be healthy, happy, and safe. Always."
"How are we supposed to be safe if we don't even know who our threats are anymore?" She replied, wiping the tears from her cheeks.
"I read through the transcript of the lie detector test he was given after the interview. They asked if Lia was the only spy in our alliance. She was the only one." Chan replied confidently as he caressed her cheek.
"And what about the others planted all over the place?" Lily hissed with frustration in her tone.
"We're gonna do what we have always done when there's a threat against us. We're gonna win this. We always do." Seungmin answered with a comforting smile on his face.
After a few minutes of silence, watching the waves crash, Lily sniffed the air a few times. "Is that what I think it is?" Lily asked, excitement appearing in her tone.
"What, babygirl?" Chan asked, inhaling deeply but smelling nothing.
She sat up and sniffed again, closing her eyes. "Is Leeknow making spicy beef soup?"
The two men chuckled at her. Seungmin nodded his head and replied, "I'm not believing you can smell that. Yes, beautiful. He figured you'd be cold after being out here so long. You ready to go in?"
Lily jumped up and wrapped the blanket around her back, bunching the fabric in her fists and bringing it over her nose. "Yep. I'm starving." She said with a muffled voice.
As they walked back to the house, she looked at Chan. "I'm gonna start going through the list after we eat."
Chan looked at Seungmin and laughed. "I told you she would."
"Would, what?" She asked, amused and confused.
Seungmin wrapped his arm around her waist as he explained. "Chan told I.N to send the list to your email because you'd want to go through the names and pull files."
She rolled her eyes, then said, "I was actually thinking about what to do next. If we know where most of these people work, chances are, we can hack their systems. I.N could use the new software to hack their phones and home security systems."
"And there she is. You not waiting to see what JK wants to do?" Chan asked.
Lily shook her head. "Why would I? You know that's what he'll want to do, anyway. Why not get a head start?"
