Chapter 113: Question

The van rolled to a stop inside the warehouse. Typically, they would be met by multiple guards with weapons drawn. However, they were pleasantly surprised to see the guards lined against the wall, completely unarmed.

CHAN: We're in. 11 guards- appear to be unarmed. No visual on JK or Tablo

WOOYOUNG: Copy that. We're in position. Standing by

The group of nine filed out of the van, fully armed and prepared for a fight if it was, in fact, a setup. Han and Seungmin each held a hard shell case to their sides.

As soon as the van doors closed, JK and Tablo appeared, locking eyes immediately with Lily. The boys all took a protective stance, surrounding her. JK's expression softened as he shared a somber smile with her. "Hiya Sparky. How are ya?"

Lily nodded her head, "Hey Uncle J. I'm ok. I appreciate you agreeing to this. I want to trust you. We all do."

JK kept his distance as he replied, "Sparky, I can't have my favorite people upset with me. Whatever it takes to prove myself- I'll do it. Let's get this show on the road."

Chan, Lily, and Seungmin sat across from Tablo, who was hooked to the polygraph machine. Lily locked eyes with him and spoke with a confident, threatening tone. "Understand that if one lie is detected, I'll see to it that you suffer."

Tablo nodded his head and replied, "I assure you, you'll have my complete cooperation, ma'am."

"We ready?" Chan asked Seungmin, who was adjusting controls on the machine.

"I believe so. Start with a practice round. Ask the same question twice. Tablo, your second response needs to be a lie. Remember, these are yes and no questions only." Seungmin instructed, not looking up from the control panel.

CHAN: Is 'Tablo' your real name?

TABLO: NO

CHAN: Is 'Tablo' your real name?

TABLO: Yes

The needle spiked across the page at the second response. Seungmin looked to Chan and simply nodded, signaling him to continue with the interview.

CHAN: Do you work for Tiger JK?

TABLO: Yes

CHAN: Have you ever given Kwon information received from JK?

TABLO: No

CHAN: Are you loyal to JK?

TABLO: Yes

CHAN: Have you ever betrayed JK's trust?

TABLO: No

CHAN: Were you aware that one of Kwon's men had been sent into our home?

TABLO: No

CHAN: We're you aware that the assistant director was one of Kwon's men?

TABLO: No

CHAN: Do you know Kwon's location?

TABLO: No

CHAN: Do you know if Brian is alive?

TABLO: No

CHAN: Is there any information regarding Kwon that you have kept from us or JK

TABLO: No

CHAN: Do you have intentions of bringing harm to anyone under this roof?

TABLO: No

CHAN: Are your intentions to immediately provide us with any information needed to keep Lily and our team safe and to bring Kwon's operation down?

TABLO: Yes

Chan turned to Seungmin, who immediately looked up and gave a nod of approval as he answered the unasked question. "He passed."

Lily slowly closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh of relief as a soft smile played on her lips.

After Seungmin removed the sensors and monitors from Tablo's body, Chan stood up and stretched out his arm, offering a handshake. "I can't thank you enough."

Tablo accepted Chan's hand with a firm, quick shake. "It's my pleasure and my honor. I appreciate you allowing the opportunity for us to clear this up."

Lily stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Tablo's neck, squeezing him tightly, catching him off guard. His arms remained to his side for a moment before reluctantly reciprocating the embrace. "Thank you, Tabby." She sighed.

He chuckled at his new nickname as they separated from their embrace.

"Well, let's go see how Uncle J did." She said, sounding hopeful that his results would be the same.

They entered the main room to find JK cutting up with Han. The others watched with amusement, just as they did on previous occasions. Lily's smile reached her eyes at the scene, which confirmed that JK had also passed his test.

Changbin was the first to notice the four entering the room. Though he was relieved that he was wrong about JK, he knew there was still a possibility that Tablo could be working against them.

The others quickly joined Changbin in watching as the small group walked toward them.

"Looks like we're good." Felix stated upon seeing Lily's expression.

JK stood up and locked eyes with Lily. "We good, Sparky?"

"You promise not to hide anything else from me?" Lily responded, crossing her arms over her chest.

JK raised his right hand. "Swear. If you don't believe me, you can check with them." He replied, motioning toward Han, Changbin, and Leeknow.

Lily rolled her eyes and laughed. "Get over here, Uncle J. Yea, we're good." She stretched her arms out, offering a hug, which JK  immediately accepted.

After pulling away, JK held her shoulders gently, yet firmly and narrowed his eyes at her. "Now listen. You have to promise me something too."

Lily smirked and replied. "What might that be?"

With a serious tone, he instructed, "Let yourself relax. Tablo will know as soon as Kwon resurfaces, and we're already drawing up plans for when that happens. And we have teams already handling the smaller details. Just trust us. K, Sparky?"

"I think I can do that." She replied with a new sense of security.

After stepping off to the side to tell Ateez to stand down, Chan rejoined the group. "JK, as always, thank you for what you're doing for us. I hate to cut this visit short, but we need to get back. It's almost lunchtime, and she's quite dangerous when she gets hungry."

JK clapped his hands together and laughed. "Doesn't surprise me. Go home and feed my niece. I'll keep you up to speed on everything. Don't hesitate to call if you need anything."

Chan shook his hand and replied, "Will do. See you soon."
