Chapter 116: Happy Birthday

The usual bickering and laughter filled the van as they crossed the bridge, nearing their home. I.N sat with his arm draped on the back of Lily's seat, twirling her hair between his fingers as she rested her head against his shoulder.

Realizing that she had been silent for a couple of minutes, he peeked down at her, thinking she had fallen asleep, yet found her deep in her thoughts. "Darling? You ok?"

His voice, using her nickname, instantly pulled her from her trance. Her face lit up as her smile stretched across her face. She looked up at him and replied. "Just thinking about today."

He smiled, relieved that she was confident in her reply. He pulled her closer to him and kissed the top of her head.

Before he could respond, she began to express her thoughts. "I had planned on sleeping through the day to get it over with. I didn't even want to acknowledge my birthday. But this-" She laid her head back against his arm and let out a sigh fueled by satisfaction.

She hadn't realized that the attention of the group was now on her. Leeknow glanced at her through the rear view mirror as the other quietened down. Proud smiles covered their faces as she continued. "I can't believe I actually enjoyed my birthday. For the first time in my life, I enjoyed my birthday."

Leeknow smirked and replied as he brought the van to a stop. "You say it like the celebration is already over. Sweet girl, we're just getting started."

The group filed into the dark house, dropping bags at the entrance. Lily stopped, mid stride as her heart sank into her stomach. "Stop!" She demanded in a hushed, urgent tone.

The men immediately obeyed and looked at her, confused and concerned by her tone. "What's wrong, love?" Han asked, placing his hand on the small of her back.

"That curtain was open when we left. Someone has been here." She replied as she reached for the gun she had strapped to her ankle.

"Relax angel." Hyunjin immediately interjected. "Yeji came by to pick something up for a mission." Hyunjin lied to keep her from drawing her weapon.

Lily raised back up and furrowed her brows. "Ugh. She couldn't wait til we were here? I miss her." She pouted, making her way to the curtain to open it. "But why the hell would she close the curtain?"

The men all smiled as she pulled back the curtain, revealing a fully decorated patio and a crowd of their closest friends, all waiting with excited expressions.

She gasped and her eyes widened with shock. "You've gotta be kidding me!" She snapped her head back to see her eight men flashing mischievous grins. Leeknow blew into a noisemaker he had found on the counter as they walked in. "Surpiiise!"

Tears pooled in her eyes as stared back at her men. "Well come on, princess." Changbin said, stepping forward and grabbing the door handle with one hand and placing his other on her back.

As the door slid open, the crowd screamed in unison. "Surprise!"
Tears were now streaming down her face as she took a step out.

Before she could say anything, Tablo rolled a three tier birthday cake in front of her with lit candles placed at the top. JK led Ateez, Itzy and Skz in a harmonious rendition of the birthday song.

She giggled with excitement and wiped her tears as closed her eyes to make another wish. Cheers and applause erupted as she opened her eyes and blew out the candles.

"What'd you wish for, Sparky?" JK asked as he lifted her into his embrace.

"Well, if I told you that, it wouldn't come true, now would it?" She playfully snapped back as he released his grasp and kissed her temple.

"Hey sis. Happy birthday!" Yeji squealed as she pulled Lily in for a hug.

"I've fucking missed you." Lily whined as she squeezed Yeji as tight as she could.

After being greeted by everyone, Lily glanced up and noticed Chan's laptop, and sound equipment set up in the gazebo to the side of the patio. A stool was placed in the center.

Chan smiled when he saw her staring at the set up. He cleared his throat before announcing. "If I could have everyone's attention."

The crowd silenced and found their seats at the elegantly decorated tables that had been set up.

Chan took Lily's hand and led her to the stool, followed by the seven other anxious men. "This beautiful girl entered our lives a little less than a year ago. And believe me when I say, she did not waste time wrapping us around her finger."

Dull laughter was heard as the guys smiled and nodded in agreement.

"Every single thing she did wrapped us tighter and tighter." Chan continued. "I think there was an unspoken agreement between the eight of us that for however long she'd allow it, we'd shower her with the love and attention she's always deserved."

Lily's tear soaked cheeks had begun to hurt due to the smile that never left her face as she listened to every heartfelt word that rolled off of each of her boyfriends' tongues.

Chan walked over to the laptop as Han's speech neared the end. "Thank you love. For loving me. For letting me love you. For bringing happiness into our lives. For being the mother of our child. Thank you for existing. Happy birthday, my love." He held her cheek in his hand as he took her lips into his for a brief, passionate kiss.

"Now, our girl loves to see Stray Kids so there's no way we could allow her birthday to pass without a performance." Chan said as he started the track.

Lily was immediately captivated by the lyrics that each voice carried. Han was first to sing. The lyrics instantly reminded her of a moment they had shared singing together.

The next verse was delivered by Hyunjin. His line referenced the late night they sat on the beach together in Jeju.

Each verse sang by each of her boyfriends invited a beautiful memory to flash in her mind. She was so entranced by their soft choreography which perfectly flowed with the melody, that the audience in front of her seemed to disappear.

Suddenly, the eight men harmonized a line that took her breath away. Her eyes widened in shock as her hands flew over her mouth when they circled in front of her, and dropped to one knee. Their hands met in the middle, stacked with palms up holding an opened velvet box as they sang the words, "For all eternity, stay by my side. Baby, will you marry me?"
