Abbie

Poking my head out of the bridal suite, Elijah nods to me, indicating the coast is clear, allowing me to make a quick escape to the room where the bridesmaid and groomsmen got ready. It might be pointless and I know it's Avery's day, but I want Damon and Derek to see me for the first time when I walk down the aisle.

Today has brought back some dark memories, but I'm not pushing my feelings onto Avery. She seems okay and happy. I'm happy for her, I'll always be her biggest fan when I know it's something she wants. Today is that. She's in love with Rafe and I'm a little emotional about seeing my best friend walk down the aisle.

"Woah! I didn't know it was possible to look this good without being the bride." Sarah greets me, eyeing me like I'm a piece of meat, but I welcome it. "You look hot yourself." I step over to her, lowering my voice. "I have no doubt John B will be ripping this off of you the second he gets you alone."

Her face flames with blush, making me smile. I got over to one of the many vanity's, checking my makeup and retouching my lipstick. I have a feeling I'll be retouching my makeup a lot today, so I grab my lipstick and powder foundation, handing it to Topper to hold for me until I can give it to Damon or Derek.

God, the flutter in my stomach at the thought of seeing them today. It does things to me, but the excitement of having today with them, has plastered a smile to my face.

"They're ready for us." Kelce calls from the door. I rush over to Sarah, helping her into her heels. Topper helps me up, offering me his arm. "Ready?" I nod, my stomach doing somersaults as we step out of the room, following Kelce and Sarah down the stairs.

"Please tell me I'm not the only one having trouble believing this is actually happening?" Topper mutters, increasing his grip on me as we take the first few steps. "No." I breathe out, sliding my hand down the cool railing. It doesn't cool my heated skin, but it grounds me. "It feels like this day has flown by, while taking forever to get here."

"Would I be the worst person to say I won't believe it's real until it's over?" I laugh, shaking my head as we step off the stairs. "No. I'll be holding my breath until the 'I do's'. After that, I'm drinking my worries away."

"Fucking same." The doors open for Sarah and Kelce, as Topper and I step up to take our place. I hear doors open upstairs, Avery's soft laughter soothing the last of my frayed nerves.

I'm not worried about the ceremony itself. I'm worried about a certain someone finding a way to ruin it. Elijah promised he'd be on his best behavior, but I know Klaus. He's unpredictable and his ego is taking a beating today. He's liable to do something to ruin this for her, but I'll do everything to make sure she has her perfect day.

The doors open again, Topper giving my hand a small squeeze as we step out, walking down to the beach.

It all hits me when we step onto the carpet lined aisle, walking towards where Sarah, Kelce and Marcel wait for us. My grip on Topper tightens, not because my heels are giving me trouble, but because I feel like I might pass out.

Flashes of Avery and Klaus' wedding flash in my head. Walking down that aisle, seconds away from delivering the news from Klaus'. I caused him that pain and for months I let him believe I had no idea.

Squeezing my hand, Topper brings me back to the present and aware of all the eyes on us. "I don't know half of these people." I stifle a laugh, locking eyes with Damon and Derek. They both wink at me, causing that storm of emotion brewing inside of me to dissipate.

"Is it horrible if I imagine they're all here for me?" A laugh slips out, but he quickly coughs, clearing his throat. Making it up to the front, Rafe looks at both of us. "Are you two really giggling right now?" Topper and I share a look, attempting to hide our smiles. "No. We're merely trying to contain our excitement for you and Avery." Rafe rolls his eyes, cracking his own smile.
