cw: ableism/bully1ng,, heavy drinking, partying, overstimulated/anxiety

( Jake gets overstimulated at a party and a group of ableists belittle/invalidate him. Carrington stands up for Jake! )

~•~

The party went too much for Jake tonight. Carrington and Jake got separated. And the party was just so crowded.

The music was blasting and loud, the lights were overwhelmingly bright and the yelling, screaming, wasn't helping either from party goers.

Jake was hiding his face into the table. Clutching his head tightly, covering his ears and bouncing his leg.

Suddenly a group of people walked over to Jake. They were his '""Friends."""' He wouldn't really consider them friends really.

Jake groaned, not wanting to be bothered. He looked up from the table, a scowl on his face as the group of people surrounded him. He was in no mood for their bullshit.

This group was mutual friends with other people in his friend group, so he knows them but isn't really close to them.

And this is why.

"Yo, Jake!" One of the guys called out, a sly grin on his face. "Having a good time?"

The others snickered, clearly amused by something.

Jake wasn't.. he hid his meltdown, suppressing it as much as he could. He makes a flat-line across his lips, holding his thumb out.

"What's wrong?" Another guy chimed in, noticing the flat line. "You look like you're about to explode or something."

They all laughed, finding it hilarious.

Jake forced a smile, grabbing his drink. He takes a swig. Suppressing his stims, just trying to stay as still as possible.

"Hey, hey, hey," one of the guys said, putting a hand on Jake's shoulder. "You're acting weird, man. You sure you're okay?"

The others snickered again, clearly enjoying seeing Jake struggle.

It went over Jake's head, "Oh, uh– Yeah! I'm.. alright." he replied to the other male.

"You sure?" Another guy asked, raising an eyebrow. "You're not like, on drugs or something, are you?"

They all burst out laughing, finding it hilarious to mock him.

Jake forced a laugh, shaking his head. "No, no, I don't do that type of thing. Just cigarettes and alcohol, mostly."

The guys exchanged looks, not believing him. "Really? You don't do anything else?" One of them asked, crossing his arms. "Because you look like you're about to have a meltdown or something."

They all chuckled again, clearly amused by their own words.

Jake picks up his glass, taking a swig. He felt the overstimulation overbearing him. But he kept pushing it down.

The guys continued to watch him, their eyes glued to him as he drank. "You know, you're acting really weird," one of them said, taking a step closer. "Like, weirder than usual."
