Jake is walking downstairs. Noticing his roommate is alone in the living room. He sighed in relief. Because tonight is the night that he is going to confess to Carrington. He couldn't believe he convinced himself, but no turning back. "Hey uh Carrington?" He called out as he is approaching him.

Carrington looked up from his phone as he heard Jake's voice. He set his phone down and turned to face him, a small smile on his face. "Hey, what's up?" he asked, noticing the nervous tone in Jake's voice.

"Hi!" Jake beamed, a bit too excited. And he felt internally embarrassed on how his tone went like that. He sat down next to Carrington on the couch. "Just um, wanted to see you."

Carrington chuckled at Jake's overly enthusiastic greeting, finding it endearing. He moved a bit closer to Jake on the couch, sensing that there was something on his mind."Is everything okay?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. "You seem a bit... anxious."

"What??" Jake said and swayed his hand, "Pffft- no way!" He dismissed with a sheepish smile. His heart began to race when he noticed Carrington catch on too hus nervousness.

Carrington raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced by Jake's attempt to brush off his nervousness. He scooted even closer to him on the couch, his eyes filled with concern.

"Jake, come on," he said gently. "I know you too well. Something's on your mind, isn't it?"

Jake blushed a bit, when he noticed that they are pretty close to each other on the couch at this point. He turned his head and noticed Carrington's concern. He started to feel guilty. He didn't want Carrington to worry.

Carrington noticed the blush on Jake's cheeks and couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest. He knew that Jake was someone who was rarely nervous, so whatever it was that was on his mind must be important.

He reached out and gently placed a hand on Jake's knee, his touch light and reassuring. "Hey," he said softly. "You can tell me anything, you know that right?"

Jake felt a rush of butterflies hit his stomach when Carrington touched him. His eyes glued to Carrington's hand. Before he smiled a bit and croaked out, "Ye-yeah, i know that."

Carrington smiled back at Jake, his hand still resting on his knee. He could sense the tension in Jake's body, and he wanted to help ease his nerves.

"Then what is it Jake?" he asked gently, his voice soft and reassuring. "Whatever it is, I'm here for you."

Jake sighed as he grabbed Carrington's hand and moved it aside. He stood up. "Um, nevermind actually. It uh- it doesn't matter honestly. Lets forget about it."

Carrington's heart sank a bit as Jake grabbed his hand and moved it away. He could sense that Jake was trying to brush it off, but he knew better than to give up that easily.

He stood up as well, looking at Jake with a mixture of concern and determination. "Jake, no," he said firmly. "Don't do that. I can tell that it's bothering you, so just tell me what's going on."

Jake groaned in defeat. Welp, no running away. He sat back on the couch to accept his defeat. He buried himself in this rabbit hole and now he has to tell Carrington.

Carrington sat down next to Jake, a small smile playing on his lips. He could tell that he had won this battle, and he was curious to see what was troubling Jake so much.
