Jake is laying on his side. His eyes not leaving the sensory slug in his hands as he is sliding it in front of his eyes to observe the colors and then he shakes it. The sound entering the space as he smiled at the sound it has made.
To explain more in context, earlier that day –Jake wasn't having a good day at all. He has been feeling overstimulated earlier today about all these little things and it got to the point that Jake needed to have some solitude to help him relax.
Carrington had noticed that Jake was feeling overwhelmed earlier, and he knew that he needed some space to help him calm down. He had given him the sensory slug, knowing that it was something that helped him relax.
He had left Jake alone for a while, but he couldn't help but worry about him. So he decided to check in on him, making sure he was doing okay.
Jake is grateful that Carrington came in to check on him. Since he has been alone for the past few hours. He thinks mentally he is ready for his boyfriend to be in the room with him.
Carrington entered the room quietly, not wanting to startle Jake. He saw him lying on the bed, playing with the sensory slug, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"Hey Jake," he said softly, walking over to the bed and sitting down beside him. "How are you feeling?"
Jake looked over. The slug dropping to his lap as he said, "Been okay" as he heard the door softly close behind Carrington.
Carrington settled down on the bed, leaning back against the headboard. He noticed the slug in Jake's lap and smiled.
"I'm glad to hear that Jake," he said, reaching out to gently brush a strand of hair out of his face. "You've been in here for a while. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah I'm okay," Jake said as he picked up his sensory slug and sets it aside on the table. "Are you okay? You keep being all, worried and stuff."
Carrington chuckled softly, a hint of guilt in his expression. "I can't help it," he admitted, reaching out to take Jake's hand in his own. "I worry about you, especially when you're going through a tough time like this."
He intertwined their fingers together, his thumb gently stroking the back of Jake's hand. "I just want to make sure you're alright."
"Oh! Uh–" Jake nodded rapidly, "yeah, I'm okay now. I just was kinda having a hard time this morning because today was just a bit .. shifted. That's all."
Carrington nodded in understanding, relieved to hear that Jake was feeling better. He squeezed his hand gently, looking at him with concern.
"I'm sorry you had a tough day Jake," he said softly. "If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know, okay? You don't have to go through this alone."
Jake kissed Carrington's hand. "I'm okay, i just need rest and solitude." He reassured. "But you can join me..."
Carrington's heart skipped a beat at Jake's kiss on his hand, and he couldn't help but smile. "Of course," he said, nodding eagerly. "I'd love to join you."
He scooted closer to Jake, settling in beside him on the bed. He wrapped an arm around his waist, pulling him closer.
Jake sighed as he shifted closer. He laid his head onto Carrington's chest. "What're you doin..?" He asked as he sits back up and watched Carrington get up and walk over to the lights, turning on the dimmer setting so they weren't extremely bright for Jake's eyes.
Carrington chuckled softly as he adjusted the lights, making sure they were at a comfortable level for Jake.
"Just trying to make sure you're comfortable, Jake" he replied, returning to the bed and laying down beside him again. "I know you get sensory overload sometimes, and I want to make sure the lights don't bother you."
