cw/tw: sensitivity towards pain, overstimulated, brief meltdown/sensory overload!¡
_________________________________________Jake is sitting in the hallway. Clutching at his head in the pitch darkness. His head tucked into his knees as he is shakily breathing.
Carrington walks down the hallway, whistling a tune to himself, when he notices Jake sitting in the darkness. Concern etches his face as he approaches him.
"Jake? What are you doing out here?" he asks, crouching down beside him.
Jake winces at the sound of Carrington's voice. It sounded more intense to him. He lifted his head and he can see some blurry vision due to the migraine.
Carrington's heart sinks as he sees the state Jake is in. He can tell that he's in pain, and his worry deepens.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he asks softly, reaching out to gently touch Jake's shoulder. "Are you okay?"
Jake pulled back. He whined in pain and shakes his head. He felt too overstimulated with the sensations of the throbbing pain in his head.
Carrington immediately pulled his hand back, not wanting to cause any further discomfort.
"Okay, okay," he said gently, trying to keep his voice low. "Just breathe, okay? Try to relax."
He sat down beside Jake, giving him some space but still being there for him.Jake clutches at his head again. Hiding into his knees and shutting his eyes super tight.
Carrington's heart ached as he watched Jake in pain. He wanted to reach out and comfort him, but he didn't want to make things worse.
"Hey, it's okay," he said softly. "Just focus on your breathing, alright? In and out, slowly."Jake's breathing quickened as the migraine intensified, causing his senses to go into overdrive.
The darkness of the hallway felt like it was closing in on Jake, and every sound seemed to echo loudly in his ears. He could feel his body tensing up, his muscles tightening in response to the overwhelming sensations.
Carrington could see the distress on Jake's face and knew that he was having an meltdown from the migraine. He stayed close but didn't touch him, knowing that it could make things worse.
"Hey, it's okay," he said again, his voice gentle and soothing. "You're safe, Jake. Just try to breathe with me, okay? In and out, slowly."
Jake shakily takes deep breaths. His head slumped onto Carrington"'s shoulder. "Migraine." He weakly spoke.
Carrington wrapped his arm around Jake, holding him close as he tried to control his breathing.
"I know, I know," he said softly, his voice filled with empathy. "I'm here, Jake. Just keep breathing with me, okay? I've got you."
He gently rubbed Jake's back, trying to offer some comfort as he rode out the waves of pain.
Carrington could see that Jake was still struggling with the sensory overload, even though he was trying to control his breathing. His body was still tense, and he could see the pain etched on his face.
He continued to rub Jake's back, speaking in a soothing voice. "It's okay," he said gently. "I'm here with you, and I'm not going anywhere. You're safe, I promise."
Jake rubs his hands together. Before he gripped at his knees. His brows furrowed as he said, "So much pain, it hurts."
Carrington's heart ached as he heard the pain in Jake's voice. He gently took Jake's hands in his own, stilling their restless movements.
