Jake and Carrington are standing in the hall. Jake has tears in his eyes. His hands into fists. He lifts his head. Looking at Carrington with heartache.
Carrington's expression instantly shifted from one of warmth to concern as he saw the tears in Jake's eyes and the look of heartache on his face.
He reached out and gently cupped Jake's face in his hands, his thumbs gently wiping away the tears that were threatening to fall.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he asked softly, his voice filled with worry. "What happened, love?"
"Don't.." Jake shakes his head and turned around. He walked down the hallway. His back facing Carrington. He walked into his room and slammed his door.
Carrington's eyes widened in surprise as Jake turned away from him and walked into his room, slamming the door behind him. He stood there for a moment, stunned by the sudden outburst.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He knew that something must have happened to make Jake act like this, but he didn't know what it was. He wanted to go after him, but he also knew that sometimes it was best to give him some space when he was upset.
Deciding to say fuck it and actually check on Jake. Carrington reached the door. He knocked on it before opening it.
Jake looked up with tears in his eyes. "Go away, it's not like you love me anymore."
Carrington's heart clenched at Jake's words. He had never heard him say something like that before, and it hurt him to see his boyfriend so upset and convinced that he didn't love him anymore.
He stepped into the room and closed the door behind him, his eyes fixed on Jake. He took a few steps closer, his voice soft and filled with concern.
"Baby, of course I love you. What makes you think that I don't?"
"Last night" Jake crossed his arms. "You kept hanging out with Chase at the party and i just felt forgotten" he wiped his eyes and sniffles.
"You don't love me." He sounded insecure suddenly. "You were flirting with him, weren't you?" He asked, even though Carrington wasn't flirting with Chase. But unfortunately Jake took it the wrong way.
Carrington's expression softened even more as he listened to Jake's words, understanding now why he was upset.
He took a step closer, his hands reaching out to gently take Jake's arms and uncross them. He held onto his wrists, his grip gentle but firm.
"Baby, no," he said firmly. "I wasn't flirting with Chase. I promise you that. We were just having a friendly conversation, that's all."
"How do i know that? The body language I saw, i couldn't tell" Jake shakes his head and moved his hands back. "I don't know, you guys just seemed like you were and you didn't pay attention to me at all at last nights party"
Carrington sighed softly, realizing that Jake had misunderstood the situation. He took another step closer, closing the distance between them until he was standing right in front of Jake.
"I'm sorry if it seemed like I was paying more attention to Chase than you Jake," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I didn't mean to make you feel that way. I was just trying to be friendly with him, that's all. But you are the one I love, not him. You have to believe me."
"Don't love me." Jake turned his head and looked out the window. A tear rolling down Jake's cheek as he rubbed an arm.
Carrington's heart sank as he saw the tear roll down Jake's cheek. He reached out and gently cupped his face again, turning it so that he was facing him."Look at me, baby," he said softly but firmly. "Please."
Jake turned his head to look at Carrington. His eyes glossy with tears. He stared at Carrington.
Carrington's heart ached as he looked into Jake's teary eyes, seeing the pain and insecurity in them. He hated seeing his boyfriend like this, especially knowing that he was the cause of it.
He gently brushed his thumb over Jake's cheek, wiping away the tears that were still falling.
"I love you more than anything in this world," he said firmly, his eyes locked on Jake's. "I love you so much, and I don't want you to ever doubt that."
"I'm sorry it's just i kinda had a shutdown at the party when i saw you and Chase hanging out.. i kinda felt left out in the situation.. plus everything was crowded and a bit bright last night so i kinda was anxious to begin with." Jake admits.
Carrington's expression softened even more as he listened to Jake's explanation. He felt guilty for not noticing how uncomfortable and anxious Jake was feeling at the party, and he felt even worse for making him feel left out and insecure.
He wrapped his arms around Jake and pulled him into a tight hug, holding him close against his chest.
"Oh, baby," he murmured. "I'm so sorry. I didn't realize how overwhelmed you were feeling. I should have been more attentive to you, and I should have made sure you were okay."
Jake returned the hug. He felt reassured just by those Caring words. He smiled at the hug.
Carrington held Jake close, gently running his fingers through his hair as he hugged him. He could feel the tension slowly leaving his boyfriend's body, and he was relieved that he was able to comfort him.
He placed a soft kiss on the top of Jake's head, whispering into his hair.
"I promise I'll do better, baby. I'll always be there for you, and I'll always make sure you feel loved and taken care of. You mean the world to me."
"Thank you for listening to me about this hon," Jake kissed Carrington's cheek. "And I'm sorry about worrying you, I should've told you from the start"
Carrington smiled softly as Jake kissed his cheek, feeling a sense of relief wash over him.
"You don't have to apologize, baby," he said, gently cupping Jake's face in his hands. "I'm glad you told me how you were feeling. And I'm sorry for not noticing sooner. We're in this together, and we need to communicate with each other. Promise me you'll talk to me if something is bothering you again, okay?"
Jake nodded, "okay"
Carrington smiled and leaned in, gently pressing his lips against Jake's in a soft, reassuring kiss. He poured all his love and affection into the kiss, wanting to show his boyfriend just how much he cared about him.
He pulled back slightly, resting his forehead against Jake's as he spoke softly.
"I love you, Jake. So, so much."
Jake leaned back in and returned the kiss before he pulled back.
"I love you too, Carrington. So, so much."
