A light rain is occurring outside Jake's bedroom window. A cigarette between his fingers as he is smoking in front of it. When he feels his boyfriend's arms wrap around his waist and hug him from behind.

Carrington quietly approaches Jake from behind, wrapping his arms around his waist and pulling him into a warm embrace. He rests his chin on his shoulder, looking out the window at the rain.

"Hey," he murmurs, his breath tickling Jake's ear. "What are you doing?"

"I couldn't sleep," Jake rasped out as he brought his cigarette back to his lips. He deeply inhaled before he takes the cigarette back and exhaled the smoke.

Carrington raised an eyebrow as he noticed the cigarette between Jake's lips. He gently nuzzled his neck, pressing a soft kiss to his skin.

Jake sighed at the soft kiss against his neck, where the three stars are tatted there. He stubbed the cigarette out on the windowsill and then flicked the remaining butt away.

Carrington felt a pang of satisfaction as Jake stubbed out the cigarette and flicked it away. He knew it wasn't easy for him to quit, but he was glad that he at least tried.

He continued to hold him close, his arms tightening around his waist. "Thank you," he murmured, pressing another kiss to Jake's neck. "I worry about you, you know that?"

"I know you do, I'm trying." Jake responded. Clearly not wanting to talk about it right now.

Carrington sensed Jake's reluctance to talk about smoking and decided to change the subject. He nuzzled his neck again, inhaling his familiar scent.

"How about we go back to bed, Jake?" he suggested softly. "It's late, and we both need some rest."

Jake tilted his head back as his brown eyes looked up at Carrington. He bit on his snakebites in concentration before he dismissed his thought and lifted his head to look out the window again.

Carrington noticed the way Jake bit on his snakebites and how he seemed to be lost in thought. He wanted to ask what was going on in his mind, but he didn't want to push him.

Instead, he gently turned Jake around so that they were facing each other. He cupped his face in his hands, tilting his chin up so that he was looking at him."You okay?" he asked softly, his thumbs rubbing gentle circles on his cheeks.

"Yeah," Jake replied. He leaned his face into Carrington's touch and closed his eyes for a moment. Before he opened them and blinked his eyelashes slowly.

Carrington couldn't help but smile as Jake leaned into his touch, his heart melting at the sight of his slow blink. He gently ran his thumb over his cheekbone, admiring his features."You look tired," he murmured, studying his face intently. "You should get some sleep."

"I can't sleep right now, I'm stuck awake." Jake replied as he lifted his head. "Not sure why honestly."

Carrington frowned slightly, concerned by Jake's admission that he couldn't sleep. He pulled him closer, his arms encircling his waist in a comforting embrace.

"Is something bothering you, Jake?" he asked gently, searching his eyes for any signs of distress. "You can talk to me, you know."

Jake suddenly gripped at his hair, sighing in frustration. "It's about my smoking," he admitted.

Carrington's frown deepened as he saw Jake grip his hair in frustration. He reached up and gently untangled his fingers from his hair, holding his hands in his own.
