cw: sleep issues
Jake has recently been super cold for the last few nights. Since Carrington hasn't been back from his trip with modeling, Jake has been cold and lonely without Carrington's warm embrace.
However what Jake doesn't know is that Carrington is on his way back home right now and he is going to surprise him.
Carrington steps out of the car, stretching his limbs after the long flight. He looks at his phone, a smile forming on his face as he sees the message he sent Jake earlier.
He grabs his luggage and heads towards the front door, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. He can't wait to see the look on Jake's face when he walks through the door.
However Jake has a habit of not checking his texts, he has no idea about Carrington coming home.
Tonight (just like what it has been), Jake laid alone in bed. Laying on his side and trying to get to sleep for the sixth night by himself.
Carrington quietly unlocks the door and steps inside, closing it softly behind him. He can hear the faint sound of the TV in the living room and assumes that Jake is still awake.
He sets his luggage down and takes off his shoes, tiptoeing through the house towards the bedroom. He peeks inside, seeing Jake laying in bed by himself.
Jake's back is facing him. He suddenly felt a presence. He assumed it was Johnnie, but then he remembered that Johnnie is at Grace's place tonight.
Carrington watched Jake for a moment, his heart aching at the sight of him alone. He couldn't stand it any longer.
He quietly walked over to the bed and sat down beside him, reaching out to gently touch his shoulder.Jake jumped and looked over. It took a minute to register before he sat up in bed. His brown eyes all wide as he started to smile.
Carrington smiled back at him, his heart swelling with affection.
"Hey, love," he said softly, reaching out to cup Jake's face. "Did you miss me?"Jake tackled Carrington into a hug. "You're home!" He exclaimed with a smile. Before he pulled away, he has a bit of dark circles underneath his eyes.
Carrington chuckled as he was tackled, wrapping his arms around Jake tightly. He noticed the dark circles under his eyes and frowned slightly.
"I am home Jake, surprise!" he said, gently brushing his thumb over the dark circles. "And you look exhausted. Have you not been sleeping well?"
Jake shakes his head. "No, not really" he admitted. "But that's okay! I was watching tv earlier and i forgot to turn it off" as he got up.
Carrington frowned even more, noticing how weak and tired Jake looked. He grabbed his hand, stopping him from getting up.
"Wait, love," he said, concern lacing his voice. "It's not okay. You need rest. You look like you haven't slept in days."
Jake pulled back, "I'll be back hon" he pecked Carrington's lips and then walked away and went downstairs. He turned the tv off and then went back upstairs.
Carrington watched him go with a worried expression. He sighed and laid back down on the bed, waiting for Jake to come back.
He couldn't help but worry about him. He knew that Jake wasn't taking care of himself properly while he was away.
When Jake returned, Carrington sat up and patted the space next to him on the bed.
Jake sat on the bed. He smiled at Carrington. "I missed you. How was the modeling going?"Carrington smiled back, relieved to see him sitting beside him again."It was good," he said, reaching out to take Jake's hand. "But I missed you more. I hate being away from you for so long."
"it was only six days" Jake shrugged. "I was just chilling at home pretty much" he admitted.
Carrington raised an eyebrow, not convinced by Jake's nonchalant attitude.
"Chilling, huh?" he said, giving him a skeptical look. "You didn't do anything else besides watch tv and stay up late?"Jake shakes his head. "No, i couldn't sleep very well either. I kept waking up off and on. I'm so use to sleeping with you next to me that when i was sleeping by myself i wasn't use to it"
Carrington's expression softened at Jake's confession. He felt a pang of guilt in his chest."Baby, you should have told me," he said, pulling him closer. "I would have come home earlier if I knew you were having trouble sleeping."
"Oh, no, no its okay" Jake kissed Carrington's cheek. "You had a modeling shoot to do out of state, i understand"
Carrington sighed, still feeling guilty. He wrapped his arms around Jake's waist, holding him close to his chest."I don't care about the shoot," he said firmly. "You're more important to me than any modeling gig. I should have been here with you."
Jake smiled sheepishly, "thats flattering but whatever" as he laid his head onto Carrington's chest. "You're home now and that's what matters"
Carrington chuckled softly, running his fingers through Jake's hair."You're too good to me," he said, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. "I don't deserve you."
Jake frowned at that, "what?" As he looked up at Carrington with his brown eyes.
Carrington looked down at him, seeing the frown on his face."I just mean that you're so understanding and patient," he explained, caressing his cheek. "I'm always away for work and I can't even stay in the same bed as you without you getting lonely. I feel like I'm neglecting you."
Jake shakes his head again. "No, honey. No. I understand that you have work sometimes out of state, and that's okay"
Carrington sighed, looking at him with a mixture of love and guilt."I know you understand, but I still feel guilty," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I hate being away from you, and I hate that you can't sleep properly when I'm not there."
Jake pecked Carrington's cheek. "Like i said, hon. I'm not upset about it. I mean, i may get lonely once in a while but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have to be here all the time either, you like modeling and I'm here to support you"
Carrington smiled softly at Jake's words, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. He leaned in and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
"You're so understanding and supportive Jake," he repeated, feeling incredibly grateful for him. "I don't know what I did to deserve you."
Jake kissed Carrington softly. "I'm happy you're home," he said sweetly.
Carrington returned the kiss, his hand moving to the back of Jake's neck. He pulled him closer, deepening the kiss."I'm happy to be home with you," he whispered against his lips. "And I promise I'll make it up to you for being away so much."
Jake nodded. Laying his head onto Carrington's chest and closing his eyes.
Carrington smiled, feeling Jake relax against him. He wrapped his arms around him tightly, holding him close as he started to play with his hair again.
"Get some rest, baby," he murmured, gently massaging his scalp. "I'll be right here when you wake up."
"I love you" Jake muttered as he started to fall asleep. Not feeling cold or lonely.
Carrington smiled widely at the sound of those three words, his heart melting.
"I love you too," he whispered back, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. "More than anything in the world."
Jake falls asleep soon after that was said.
Carrington watched as Jake drifted off to sleep, his expression peaceful and content. He couldn't help but admire how beautiful he looked, even in his sleep.
He continued to hold him close, his fingers gently stroking his hair as he watched over him. He felt a sense of protectiveness wash over him, a need to keep him safe and happy.
Carrington knew that he would do anything to make sure that Jake was never lonely or unhappy again.
