[ cw: sleep issues ]
Jake is awake in the middle of the night. He got up and out of bed. His boyfriend Carrington felt Jake's body leaving the bed.
Carrington stirred slightly as he felt the warmth of Jake's body leave the bed. He was still half asleep, but he could tell that something was off.
He slowly opened his eyes, squinting against the darkness of the room. "Babe?" He mumbled, his voice groggy with sleep. "Where are you going?"
"Just to the window." Jake replied as he knelt down in front of it. He is looking at the raindrops that are sliding down the windowpanes.
Carrington sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he watched Jake by the window. He was a bit confused, not sure why he was awake and staring out the window at this hour.
He got out of bed and walked over to him, standing behind him and wrapping his arms around his waist. "It's raining," he stated the obvious, resting his chin on Jake's shoulder.
"No shit," Jake replied. He leaned back into Carrington's embrace as he stared out the window.
Carrington rolled his eyes playfully at Jake's sarcastic response. He nuzzled his face into the crook of his neck, pressing a kiss to the sensitive skin there.
"You know what I meant," he murmured, his breath tickling Jake's skin. "What are you doing up at this hour?"
"I woke up." Jake replied as his eyes looked up at Carrington. He has dark circles underneath his eyes. Then he looked at the window again. Listening to the rain and watching the visual representation of the rain sliding down the panes.
Carrington frowned as he noticed the dark circles under Jake's eyes. He gently cupped his face, turning his head to face him.
"Have you not been sleeping well?" He asked, his voice laced with concern. He knew that Jake had a habit of not getting enough sleep, but he didn't realize it was this bad.
"No." Jake replied as he shifted his gaze. Before he stood back up and walked over to the bed.
Carrington followed him back to the bed, watching as he sat down on the edge of the mattress. He sat down next to him, still concerned about his lack of sleep.
"How long has this been going on?" He asked, placing a gentle hand on his thigh.
"It's been going on for a while." Jake admits as he placed a hand on top of Carrington's. His other hand rubbing an eye.
Carrington's frown deepened as Jake admitted that it had been going on for a while. He squeezed his thigh gently, his thumb rubbing small circles against his skin.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked, his voice soft but firm. He was frustrated that Jake had been dealing with this alone for so long.
"I don't know." Jake replied as he laid back down on the bed. Laying on his side and fidgeting with the fabric of their blankets on the bed.
Carrington laid down beside him, propping himself up on his elbow so he could look at Jake. He continued to rub his thigh, trying to offer some comfort.
"You know you can tell me anything, right?" He said, his eyes filled with concern and love. "I'm here for you, no matter what."
"i know." Jake replied. It was odd to hear short responses, but that could also be the lack of sleep too.
Carrington could sense that Jake was tired and not himself. He continued to watch him closely, his heart aching at the exhaustion on his face.
"You need to get some sleep," he said firmly, running his fingers through Jake's hair in a soothing manner. "You look exhausted."
