cw: jealousy/possessiveness, insecurities

________________________________________

Jake is on his phone, scrolling through social
media. His back facing his boyfriend Carrington.

Carrington was sitting on the couch, idly flipping through TV channels. He glanced over at Jake, noticing him on his phone.

He couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy as he saw him scrolling through social media, probably interacting with other people.“Who are you talking to, Jakey?” He asked, trying to sound nonchalant but failing miserably.

"Nobody," Jake replied truthfully. Showing his phone that he was just was scrolling through his social media feed.

Carrington frowned slightly, not fully convinced. He knew Jake well enough to know that he could be a bit of a social butterfly at times.

“Are you sure, Jake?” He asked, trying to keep his tone light. “You’re not chatting with any other guys, are you?”

Jake lightly scoffed. "Yes babe, I'm sure. Look," he sits up and showed his phone to Carrington's face. "I'm on my insta."

Carrington glanced at the screen, his eyes scanning over the various posts and pictures. He couldn’t see anything that looked suspicious, but he still couldn’t shake the feeling of jealousy.

He leaned back against the couch, crossing his arms over his chest.“Just checking Jake,” he mumbled, trying to hide the hint of possessiveness in his voice.

Jake lightly scoffed again as he looked down at his phone again. Scrolling and liking various posts on his Instagram feed.

Carrington continued to watch him from the couch, his eyes fixated on his phone screen. He knew he was being ridiculous, but he couldn’t help it.

He was too in love with Jake, and the thought of him talking to other guys made his blood boil.

Carrington shifted uncomfortably on the couch, his jealousy and possessiveness slowly growing.

Jake looked up, "What?" He asked softly. Before looking back down at his phone, typing a bit on it.

Carrington looked away, his jaw clenching slightly. He hated feeling this way, like he didn’t trust Jake or his loyalty. But the emotions were just too strong to ignore.

“Nothing Jake,” he muttered, his gaze returning to the TV screen, though he wasn’t really watching it anymore.

"Liar, what's troubling you?" Jake asked as he is typing on his phone. His head not lifting up as he is texting his best friend Johnnie.

Carrington’s jaw clenched tighter as he heard Jake call him out on his lie. He knew he couldn’t keep it from him, but he still didn’t want to admit how jealous he was.

“I said it’s nothing, Jake.” he repeated, his voice slightly strained. “Just drop it.”

Jake scoffed as he finished texting his emo best friend and turned his phone off. He looked at Carrington now. "What's going on?"

Carrington looked back at him, his eyes locking onto his. He could see the concern in Jake’s eyes, and it only made him feel more guilty.

He sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair.“I just… I don’t like seeing you on your phone so much Jake,” he admitted begrudgingly. “It feels like you’re always talking to other guys.”

Jake looked offended. He scoffed and sets his phone aside. "That's stupid." He replied. "I'm not talking to anyone else, besides Johnnie. And you know him. Our roommate." He blinked a few times. "Our friend. Dummy." As he shakes his head. "I hardly text anyone anyway, i have a hard time remembering to text people, you know that. I even am forgetful about texting. So why the fuck are you assuming that?"
