Jake is laying in bed. Admiring Carrington's sleeping face. He is laying on his side, looking at Carrington.
Carrington was fast asleep, his chest rising and falling with each breath. He looked peaceful and content, a small smile on his face as he dreamt.
Jake couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for his boyfriend. He loved waking up to the sight of him.
Jake pecked Carrington's cheek. Then quietly sneaked out of bed. He glanced at Carrington before he exited the room.
Carrington stirred slightly in his sleep, feeling the gentle touch on his cheek. He mumbled something incoherent and rolled over, pulling the blanket closer to him.
He didn't fully wake up, but he felt a pang of loneliness as Jake left the room. His subconscious was used to waking up next to him, and without him there, he felt a bit cold and empty.
And it wasn't even the morning, it was the middle of the night. Jake is now outside out on the back porch, smoking a cigarette.
The cool night air greeted Jake as he stepped onto the back porch. He leaned against the railing, taking a long drag from his cigarette.
He stared out into the darkness, his mind racing with thoughts. He knew Carrington wouldn't approve of him smoking since he was trying to quit, but he couldn't help it sometimes. It was a habit he had picked up a while ago, and it was hard to break. He exhaled a puff of smoke, watching it dissipate into the night sky.
Carrington slowly woke up, his eyes fluttering open. He stretched and yawned, noticing the empty spot beside him.
He frowned slightly, feeling a sense of worry wash over him. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, wondering where Jake could have gone. He looked around the room and didn't see any sign of him.Concerned, he got out of bed and made his way towards the back porch.
Carrington walked downstairs to see Jake smoking out on the back porch. Jake heard the back door open and turned his head to the sound.
Carrington's heart sank when he saw Jake smoking. He knew it wasn't good for him, and it pained him to see him doing it.
He stepped outside, his arms crossed over his chest. "Hey," he said softly, trying to keep his tone neutral."Hi hon" Jake replied as he brought the cigarette over for one last puff to his lips before he puts it out at the nearby ashtray.
Carrington watched as Jake put out the cigarette, his expression still serious. He walked over to him and leaned against the railing, standing next to him."You know I don't like it when you smoke," he said quietly, looking at him with a mix of concern and disappointment.
"Hey. You smoke too with me at parties. So cut the crap," Jake replied as he kissed Carrington's cheek. "I'm working on it , babe"
Carrington sighed, his irritation fading slightly at the kiss. He knew Jake was right, he did smoke at parties too, but it was different. He only smoked when he was out with friends, not alone in the middle of the night.
"I know, I know Jake," he said, running a hand through his hair. "But it's just...it's not good for you, and I hate seeing you do it."
"It's not good for you either. Look, can we not talk about it tonight?" Jake asked as he walked back inside.
Carrington followed him inside, not wanting to drop the subject just yet. He closed the door behind him and caught up to Jake, gently grabbing his arm."Babe, please," he said, his voice soft but firm. "I'm worried about you. We need to talk about this."
