"Miss. Potter, I've been looking for you."
Mia looked up and saw Snape standing there.
"You have?" she asked as he nodded. "Mr. Malfoy told me you were here." Mia went slightly pink as she looked at Snape. "Do not flatter yourself, Miss. Potter. Your interactions with Mr. Malfoy are neither my business nor my care." Mia nodded. Besides, I only wish to convey a message."
"A message?" she asked.
"From Professor Dumbledore," he said, "he asked that I give you his best and that he hopes you enjoy your holiday. You see, he's travelling and won't return until term resumes."
"Oh, right okay," she said nodding. "Thank you." Snape looked at her and curtly nodded before walking away to find Harry. Mia grabbed another glass of champagne and leaned against the wall.
"Professor Slughorn," wheezed Filch, his jowls aquiver and the maniacal light of mischief-detection in his bulging eyes. Mia looked up and furrowed her eyebrows. "I discovered this boy lurking in an upstairs corridor. He claims to have been invited to your party and delayed in setting out. Did you issue him with an invitation?" Malfoy pulled himself free of Filch's grip, looking furious.
"I invited him," Mia said, stepping forward. Everyone looked at her and she stood next to Draco. "I was meant to meet him outside and I forgot."
"Oh," Slughorn said with a grin, "Well that's no problem m'boy! Stay, stay!"
"I should get going anyway," Draco said, sending Mia a subtle grateful look.
"I'll escort him out," Snape said as Mia looked at him.
"Certainly, Professor," Draco said as he followed Snape out of the party.
"Miss. Potter," Slughorn said as Mia looked at him, "I wasn't aware you were bringing a guest."
"That's probably because you spent the entire night sucking up to Harry and acting like I wasn't here," she said, putting the glass down. "Thanks for the invite, Professor." And with that, Mia walked out of the party.
She walked down the corridor but came to a stop when she heard voices.
"Maybe I did hex that Bell girl." It was Draco. Mia hid behind the wall as Harry came up to her. She put her fingers to her lips and pointed around the corner.
"Maybe I didn't. What's it to you?"
"I swore to protect you," came the voice of Snape as Mia looked confused. "I made the Unbreakable Vow. . . ."
"I don't need protection," Draco hissed, "I was chosen for this! Out of all others. Me! And I won't fail him."
