Rubbing my chin, I turned and looked at Sarah, whose expression would periodically contort into agony every minute or so before returning to normal; clearly, she's gotten better, but the main problem hasn't changed much.
"Could you not remove that piece of her soul? Ten percent is quite significant, but it's not anything she can't heal from." Asked Elif with a raised eyebrow as he turned and glanced at Lynda, who wryly shook her head before sighing.
"Technically, I could indeed do so, your Highness; however, the pain she's experiencing isn't from her corrupted soul, but her corrupted dao heart. Because she was exposed to that Diabolical for long enough, an artificial heart demon had manifested within her, and she's currently fighting it; you've never had one, but I'm confident you've heard and read all about them." Replied Lynda with a nod before shaking her head and tapping Sarah's chest, right where her heart was, before glancing at Elif, who narrowed his eyes.
"Yes, I'm quite knowledgeable regarding dao heart and heart demons, and I know how dangerous they can be... As should every cultivator be. However, I still do not grasp why you can't remove her corrupted soul." Remarked Elif with slight confusion as he folded his arms while glancing at Sarah, whom Lynda was soothing.
"Because doing so would weaken her, and only her... It wouldn't affect her heart demon in any significance, and as of right now, fixing her soul would be a waste of time if she doesn't emerge victorious against her heart demon." Stated Lynda with a slight frown as she glanced at Elif while her fingers constantly twitched as they hovered about Sarah's body.
"I... Didn't know that. I had assumed doing so would affect both the heart demon and her. Hmm, if that's the case, there isn't much we can do to assist her; a heart demon can only be overcome by oneself." Said Elif with a deep frown as he narrowed his eyes, staring intently at Sarah and her turbulent Qi within her.
Sarah's battle with her heart demon was quite dangerous, given how her own Qi was damaging her body; if nothing were to be done, she'd probably lose from the aftereffects of the fight rather than from her heart demon. Unfortunately for us, the most we, or I should say Lynda, could do to help was constantly healing and soothing her pain, keeping her in her best possible condition to fight off her heart demon.
"Do you know of any pills that can help her, Lynda? Not even pills specifically, perhaps a method we could use? As much as I'd love to trust and put my faith in Sarah, I do not believe she will win this battle." Asked Elif lightly as he sat down opposite of Lynda and Sarah while staring intently at her, trying to observe clues of how the battle was playing out.
"Pills? Yes, I know of a few pills, specifically one you know quite well as well." Replied Lynda with a raised eyebrow before nodding and glancing at Elif, who furrowed his brows before snapping his fingers in eureka.
"Pseduo Enlightenment pill. Though that is a mid-tier Immortal Pill, I'd be hesitant to use it in general." Muttered Elif with a click of his tongue as he tapped the chair while staring at Sarah, causing Lynda to nod.
"Understandable, and while there are a few other options to choose from, such as the Heart Devourer pill and Demon Suppression Pill, those are not yours, and I'm uncertain if Her Majesty Celeste would agree to give you one for Sarah." Stated Lynda as she looked at Elif, who grumbled under his breath before sighing and nodding.
"Queen Celeste... Grandmother prefers being regarded as Queen Celeste." Said Elif softly as he grabbed his head in frustration before releasing a deep sigh, one Lynda was very familiar with, given her profession.
"Let us push pills to the side; what about a method to help Sarah? I doubt that will be any better if I'm being honest, though." "I know of one method, though you're correct, Your Highness, it's a much worse option." Said Elif and Lynda, respectively, as he raised his head and looked at Lynda, who wryly chuckled before nodding her head in agreement.
