Twenty-two: Guardians

Her question was greeted with total silence. 

"You mean the kapres?" It was her father who asked, halatang naguguluhan.  Umiling siya. 

"I don't know what happened to the last guardian hija, but- I have an idea kung sino iyon." Sagot sa kanya ng kanilang lola. Awkward pa rin siyang isipin at tawaging lola ito gayong sobrang bata at ganda pa nito pero alangan naman hindi niya ito galangin?  Hindi rin nakaligtas sa kanya na sinabi nitong guardian, hindi guardians.  Ibig sabihin isa lang.

"Simula ng sabihin sa amin ni Seregon at Tempest ang napanaginipan at ang mga naririnig nila na boses ay nagsimula na akong ma curious.  I made a lot of research.  I think long and hard.  Until it become clear to me.  More than anyone, ako ang nakakaalam how life in Quoria was before the first war. I was here, living with my family.  I experienced what was life like during the reign of Empress Erythrina.   Those are the most glorious days.  There are many elemental mages in the empire.  Very powerful.  Powers that the mages of today can never comprehend and can never achieve. But no matter how powerful those elemental mages are, their powers are nothing compared to the power of the Empress."

"So you think the Empress was the last guardian of the elements lola?"

"Iyon ang hula ko.  Pero inaamin ko na wala akong matibay na ebidensya.  But- I know someone whom we can ask and---

--more than a thousand year old." Dugtong niya sa sasabihin ng kanilang lola V, na excite siya.  Her mistake was, she didn't asked Karess the right queations!  Hindi na pala niya kailangan na mag research!  Oh ang tanga ko!

"Where is she right now Tara?" Nakangiting tanong sa kanya ng kanilang lola V.

"In the university.  Researching!" Excited pa rin niyang sagot.

"Now tell us why you are asking me those questions.  And you better tell us everything.  I also why these three didn't asked you questions.  Nakuha ko na style ninyong apat.  Kaya spill it out now."

"We didn't know anything lola." It was Temepst.

"Yes, for now.  Mamaya as soon as we are out of earshot alam ko magtatanong kayo kay Tara.  It's all well and good.  But, mas maganda ang tulog ko kung wala kayong itinatago sa akin--"narinig nitong tumikhim ang asawa. --I mean sa amin! Maliwanag?" Inisa-isa silang apat na tiningnan nito.  Nakakatakot talaga ito. 

Nang makuha nito ang pagsang ayon nilang apat ay saka ito nagrelax.  Wew!  Shes terrifying!

"I think I saw the past guardians."

Napa-oh! ang lahat sa loob ng silid. 

Their reaction was like a water in a dum broke out.  She was burgeoned with questions on hows, whens and whats.  Hindi niya malaman kung sino at alin sa mga tanong ang uunahin niyang sagutin.

She was grateful of  the High Lord when he interfered or should she call him lolo? "Let her speak first."

"During my Selection I saw three beings.  I am not really clear what they are trying to tell except that; Fire burns. Water flows. Air blows. Earth wants to grow. I don't have any idea what those means."

"Isn't that what was written on the wall of the Temple?" Si Seregon.

"Does the woman looks like me Tara?" Tanong ni Tempest.
