Chapter 110

Snape sat at the table; he ate some food, as the students chattered on about Harry being a Champion. Snape had noticed that most seemed to feel he was desperate for more glory and had found away around Dumbledore’s age line. Snape looked down the long Gryffindor table he did not see Harry among all the other students, he did see his friend Ron sitting with his twin brothers. Snape found this odd, since those two were very close friends and were almost never apart from each other. The other thing Snape noticed was that Hermione was nowhere around the table, she too seemed to be absent from dinner.

Severus left the table and headed for his classroom, he would not have Harry in his class for a few days so he would not have to face the fact that he was feeling as though it was some how Harry’s fault he was failing in his vow to protect him for Lily. Snape of course had the twins in his class; they were as always full of life and wanting to spread it around in great abundance. Snape was not feeling eager to listen to them as they started in talking about how Harry could have gotten his name into the Goblet of Fire with out getting a beard.

“I heard he had Hermione make him an aging potion, she’s suppose to be brilliant at them.” Lee Jordan told Fred and George,

“Nah can’t be true we did a great job on ours.” Fred reminded them.

“Besides there is no way Hermione would break a rule.” George pointed out to them both.

“Well he must have done something to get into it, lucky git.” Fred mumbled.

“I wish I knew what it was.” Lee commented. “Did you ask Ron since he’d been hanging around you guys lately?”

“Stupid git has no clue he’s just being an arse because Harry didn’t get his name into it as if he’d ever have a chance at being picked.” Fred replied. They didn’t notice their teachers coming up behind them not looking amused.

“As thrilling as your lives are, you are now in here and you shall work on the day’s potions or I shall start handing out detentions to everyone whether they have done anything or not.” Snape figured that would get them to behave, he was wrong of course. They started right in speaking but in lower tones.

He walked around the room; he was always amazed the twins could get any results when they hardly seem to pay attention to class.

“Looks a little weak, are you sure you followed the directions precisely?” Snape asked as he looked down at Fred’s cauldron.

“Of course Professor, down to the last drop of scarab juice,” Fred smiled brightly at him.

“Maybe you would like to make sure you used the last drop of the Spine of lion juice as well,” Snape sneered as he walked off. Fred looked at his potion then added a drop of Spine of lion juice, it immediately turned the right color and thickness. Fred smiled very pleased with his work.

The class as always was eager to leave the chill and now smoky dungeons. He was glad to see them leave but was not looking forward to his next class of third year students.

It was the day he had Potter in is class, after his name was tossed out of the Goblet. Snape was not looking forward to it as lunch had ended and he walked to his dungeon classroom where the students would be waiting outside the classroom door. Snape stopped long enough on his decent to the dungeons to talk with Dumbledore who walked toward him.

“Severus, how is everything going with you?” Dumbledore asked pleasantly.

“As well as can be expected sir, I am heading for my class right now.” He was wondering if his headmaster had some unknown reason to be seeking him out here.
