Chapter 99
McGonagall was talking with Remus in the teachers lounge when Snape had walked in, he felt an irrational desire to turn around and leave when he saw them talking there.
Snape sat down within hearing range of them. He was of course curious to hear what they are saying but had no desire to join in with their conversation, at least not with Lupin.
“It was so ridiculous; the poor boy doesn’t need Sybil telling him he’s going to die every time he goes into her class. I tried to talk with her about her irrational greeting of new students telling her that always predicting someone’s death was getting old and she needed to try something new for a while.” McGonagall sighed
“I take it she was not to willing to change her teaching methods?” Lupin asked with a small grin on his face.
“No of course not, she continued telling me that the cards are never wrong and that the grim is at this moments stalking ever closer to Harry Potter. Can you imagine what the poor boy would do if he ever did see a large black dog coming at him, it’d scare him to death and all because Trelawney wants to make her lessons more dramatic.”
Remus laughed at this. “I don’t think Harry needs to worry about any grims’ coming for him in here, I think we can all do a fine job of protecting the lad.”
“Yes you are correct there, I was going to take him off the team but in the end I told him he could practice but only as long as Madam Hooch over saw their training.”
“Is he a good flyer, I remember how great James was.” Lupin smiled as his eyes flickers toward Snape who seemed to grip his paper tighter.
“Oh yes the boy is remarkable, the first time I saw him on the broomstick I knew. I was stunned he seems a real natural and able to fly as though born to the broomstick. If you are able to make the game your in for a real treat, if his father was still here he’d give him a run for his money I bet.” McGonagall said proudly.
Lupin chuckled; “I shall look forward to the game and see how he measures up to James. It’ll be something to see, I remember how great James could fly.” he smiled remembering their school days.
“When of course you could get him to stop flirting with Lily Evans,” McGonagall said with a chuckled and then looked guiltily at Snape as he stood up from the chair and left in a huff.
“What is the matter with Severus?” Remus asked softly noticing his departure. “Is he still upset over James?” Lupin asked worried since he had noticed from his first days here that Snape seemed to be very angry with him.
“I believe he still is.” McGonagall told him sadly. I do so wish I could tell him how much Lily had loved him and how much she was hurting over him and having to give up their child. McGonagall thought sadly as she looked at the small picture she had pulled out of her sleeve at a young man of eighteen ready to graduate from the magical school he had attended in the states.
“Who is that in the picture?” Lupin asked curiously.
“A friend of mine it’s their son, they send pictures to me and update me on how he is doing.” McGonagall said sadly as she showed the picture to Lupin.
“Nice looking man, he seems familiar some how.” Remus handed it back to her a look of concentration on his face.
McGonagall didn’t say anything about his thoughts of familiarity since she knew why he believed it; the boy looked remarkably like Lily with Snape’s dark eyes.
“I must be going on to my classes, they shall be starting soon.” McGonagall stood up from the chair. “It is a pleasure to have you back here with us Remus, the kids so love your classes.” McGonagall smiled happily at him as she left the staff room.
