Severus had found the next few weeks filled with students suddenly turning into large yellow canaries. There were also a large display; of students wands changing into parrots, dogs, cats and other odd things when they tried to use them.

He had his first year students in class today. He had to remind them of a few things since several of them seemed to either forget or they never paid attention in the first place.

Snape was telling them about potions done in a dirty cauldron and why they had to remember and obviously learn how to clean the cauldron right since they had several students make disastrous potions because of lack of cleaning their cauldrons properly, when two boys burst into canaries.

“From now on I shall dock points from anyone sneaking in food to eat in here. It is getting tiresome having you change into birds at all times. I am also not in the mood to clean up feathers do I make myself clear.” Snape asked in a dangerous voice as the students all looked scared and nodded their heads worriedly. A few minutes later the two boys molted and were back to normal.

Severus finished talking and set the students to working on the proper ways of cleaning a cauldron and how best to test it for germs that may affect your cauldron and the potion you are making in it.

At the end of class, Snape looked around at this first term class.

“I shall hope that you had learned something today about the importance of keeping a clean cauldron. We do not need any more cauldrons exploding because they were not clean. He stared around at the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. They were looking frighten.

“Class dismissed.”

They hurriedly packed up their things leaving in a hurry.

Snape relaxed for a few minutes changing the blackboard of the cleaning instructions while placing a new potion to be used by his fifth year class of Slytherin and Hufflepuff.

The students started to file into his class the Hufflepuff looking worried the Slytherin students looking confident.

“Today we shall be working on a troubling solution. The directions are up here.” He pointed his wand at the board the words appearing there. “If you need extra items they are in the school cupboard, now begin you have and hour and a half to finish this.”

The students all hurried to get their work done. He smiled watching them work.

Once they were done and he had them bring up a sample he told them to wait a moment while he told them of the upcoming ball.

“Come Christmas there shall be a Yule Ball, in honor of the Tri-Wizard Tournament, it is a tradition and the school shall be able to socialize with our foreign guest while they are here.” The giggling of the girls did not surprise Snape. They all looked very excited, he remembered how the girls had been when he was in school and they had a school dance. “It is though only for those forth term and up although you are able to invite someone from another term, if you so desire too.” Snape looked around at them as they continued to look excited they were of course fifth term students. “We do expect everyone to behave and to be on their best behavior, you do not want to let your house down.” Snape looked around at the students since they were Slytherin and Hufflepuff. The Hufflepuff students seemed to be thinking the same thing, it was not them who would let their houses down.

“If you have further questions you may talk to your head of houses.”

Snape looked at the boys and girls as they eyed each other and the girls giggled girlishly. The boys looked pompous.
