Chapter 169

Floating toward them was Nearly Headless Nick; he was looking very deep in thought as he glided toward them.

“How did he come to be here at the school?” Hermione asked with a quill poised above the parchment, she had whipped out from a pocket.

“The Marauders had showed him how to get past the magical barrier that surrounds the school. He had told me about it later and their restrictions for him if they brought him inside.” Nick told them. Hermione had not yet written everything down. Harry looked between them at a loss for words.

“The Marauders; as in Prongs, Padfoot, Moony and Wormtail,”

“Yes, Harry’s father James. It seems they had met up in the Shrieking Shack; they talked for a while, and told him to never bother Miss. Evans and always be respectful toward Professor Dumbledore. As far as I know he upheld those promises, and happily gave them their own nick names from him.”

“His own for them,”

“Yes when he calls Harry here Potty that is the same he had given his James, he had promised to make any children they had feel welcome here.”

“Wow, that is… so he…. Came here; because of them.”

Nick went on to explain more about their conversation, Hermione started to write quickly. Nick was pleased as he sat above a chair next to Harry talking with Hermione.

Harry went back to reading, although he did want to talk to his dad about why they thought it a good idea to invite him inside the castle.

Of course the Marauders were very happy to help tell how they had been in the Shrieking Shack in animal form watching Moony as he slowly reverted back to normal. Once they had all popped back that was when Peeves instroduced himself to them. They ahd they were quite happy to tell them been friends since and what all their nicknames from him were and how they would give him fun ideas to do to pester others. They had told him to hang out with the Slytherins since they needed to develop a sense of humor. Severus was pleased to tell them that he had later years told Peeves fun things to do like blowing raspberries at Umbridge and to help the Gryffindor learn to have a sense of humor. This had all of them laughing.

Harry thoroughly enjoyed reading about the current teachers and what brought them to teaching here and their heroics in fighting the Death Eaters. There was also a chapter about Tom Riddle, the young boy who was a descendant of Salazar Slytherin, who was left at the Orphanage where his witch mother Merope had named him and then passed on.

Harry looked at Hermione in amazement, “How did you get all of this information?”

“From you, remember how much Dumbledore told you, and how he had gathered up all this information. Other things like his time in the Forest in Albania, and things he had done after he had left Burke’s shop. I was able to learn from Death Eaters, who were more willing to talk when they knew he had no way of returning.”

“So what did they tell you?” Harry asked. Hermione gave him a look of dumbfounded disbelief.

“Read it Harry, its all there,”

“Oh yeah sorry,” Harry returned to reading. Many portraits occupants started to shout out at him to read aloud, they wanted to hear this too.

Harry looked around at everyone. Harry grinned as he started to read aloud so that they could all hear about Tom Riddle.

“He had left the home of Hepzibah Smith, after killing her and altering the memory of the small house elf, Hokey (who was on the Wall of Fame along with Hepzibah Smith) so that she would take the blame for his murder of the lonely elderly woman. Tom riddle was very proud to make another horcrux, a very dark and horrible type of magic, that involves murdering a person, which momentarily rips your soul apart, you use a incantation, that brings out your smallest part of the soul that is rip to reside in the object you have charmed.
