Chapter 153

Snape had the potion brewing in his private room, he also had some brewing with Horace Slughorn so that they would both have a ready supply when the time came they would need it. Snape knew it was good but he had tasted some to be sure and was pleased with the effects. Snape looked in the mirror, his lips had swollen and were severely bruised, his cheeks were both bruised with what looked like cuts, both his eyes were blacken to the point that he could hardly see out of them.

“It sure looks like you came out worse in a battle,” Dumbledore told him with a smirk as the headmasters and mistresses watched him.

“I wouldn’t even recognize myself,” Snape agreed as he took a drink of the Fixer Elixir and was back to normal. He knew with out this potion the effects would take a couple of weeks to wear off.

At this moment an owl came swooping inside the room from the fireplace. Snape looked at the school owl he had sent a while ago with a message to the Dark Lord.

Snape removed the scroll, he read through it quickly.

“I am not surprised,” Snape looked at Dumbledore. “He told me that if any students does try to steal the sword of Gryffindor then to remove it at once and place it in the LeStrange vault at Gringotts, and to punish them severely, by any means.”

Snape shook his head. “I am betting he was never punished severely in the time he was here.” Snape frowned for a moment as he talked. “It may have been better had he been punished severely though.”

Dumbledore said nothing he just smiled at him.

The next day after lunch Snape was walking through the halls, when he was called over to a portrait. Snape was surprised to see the Gryffindor Fat Lady standing there looking breathless. “I am so glad I found you Professor, they have left to go to your office; they plan on stealing it now.”

Snape’s eyes widen he had not expected them to try so quickly into the school year.

“Thank you, I shall hasten there to stop them,” Snape hurried down the hall when he heard another shout out to him.

“They are there now, Professor,”

“Thank you Dilys,” Snape gave her a wave as he ran faster until he arrived panting at the stone gargoyle statue.

“Elf Wine,” Snape said with a gasp as the gargoyle leaped aside for him. Snape hurried up the stairs to see Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood, trying to leave the office with the sword in hand.

“My oh my what have we here, it seem two Gryffindors and a Ravenclaw are looking for detention and to lose say twenty points each for stealing,” Snape took the sword from Neville’s trembling hands. “A valuable Gryffindor artifact,”

“It belongs to Harry Potter; Dumbledore willed it to him,” Ginny said to him defiantly.

“In and sit down,”

Snape watched as they dejectedly walked back into his office, all three sitting down on a chair. Snape took the headmaster’s chair across from them. He looked at them very sternly so as to place fear in their hearts. Snape noticed that Luna looked as dreamy as ever and did not seem to concern that they had been caught stealing.

“As you well know the sword was not given to Potter because it did not belong to Dumbledore, so it will remain with the school, until the time it is removed to a safe location in case you three decide to try and steal it again.”

“That doesn’t matter its still Harry’s, you have no right to keep it or… or hide it some where,”

Snape looked at Ginny, she reminded him of Lily with her fierce loyalties to the man she loved.
