Chapter 85. Memories of glass.
Snape walk walking through the school, back to his office and private room when he had noticed Harry leaving a empty room, the cloak was thrown over his head as he scampered away quickly down the hall. What was that boy up to now? That room is empty, what would he be doing in there?
Snape walked into the room and looked around, it seemed rather empty and quite dull really except Snape noticed as he turned to leave a large mirror. Snape walked over to look at the mirror, Snape looked at it thinking to him self, The Mirror of Erised or the Mirror of Desires. Snape looked into it’s depths to see Lily standing beside him a child in her one arm her other arm around his waist; she was smiling happily up at him.
Snape smiled at the image, before turning away from it.
“I see you too are drawn to what you can see in the mirror.” A soft gentle voice said behind him.
Snape chuckled. “Yes I will always see the same thing when I look into this mirror, a Lily Evans alive and well and ….” Snape said nothing else.
“It is the same for our young Mr. Potter who watched with hungry eyes to see his mother and to want her alive and well, raising him in a loving family, something he has not had since he was a baby.”
“Yes it must be very hard to see what you want and to know you can never have it.” Snape replied sadly as he gazed again at Lily who was waving happily to him, blowing him kisses.
“Yes it truly is Severus, it truly is.” Dumbledore and Snape walked off, talking softly. “I shall be moving it to the lower levels to help protect the stones; I don’t believe our friend Quirrel will be able to ever retrieve the stone after that, even if he had managed to make it past all the other obstacles down there. I must say yours is very ingenious, so many wizards have not an ounce of common sense these days.” Dumbledore chuckled. Snape smiled pleased. It was something he had found to be very true with others.
That night Snape slept well with a very happy Lily visiting his dreams, telling him she loved him and was still so proud of him for saving her son in the last game against his house and the evil Quirrel, Snape loved it when she was grateful in his dreams, he always woke up feeling as though he could conquer anything in his path.
Lily left the dream state with Snape and his room with a large smile on her lips. James waited on the outside of the door for her.
“Took ya long enough, how many times you plan on thanking him for saving Harry in the game.”
“As many times as it takes,” Lily laughed as she wrapped her arm around James’s waist.
James laughed as the two went back to their spiritual home and a time for their own celebration. Their son was doing great and as James pointed out was a great flyer like his dad.
Lily just laughed at this; it was to her just a game. Something she shared in common with another bright Gryffindor girl.
It was coming up time for the next match of Quiddich; the Gryffindors were playing against the Hufflepuffs. Snape had talked to Madam Hooch about his refereeing the game, he knew Quirrel was going to once again be at the game and did not want to take the chance that he would not strike again at Harry, if he was on his broom in the middle of the match on the pretense of being the referee he would be able to guard Harry more safely then sitting in the stands and wanting to go over and punch Quirrel in the face for trying to kill Harry, he may look like James but he was after all Lily’s son and he promised her and Dumbledore he would keep him safe.
