Chapter 114. A second time to be killed.

The second task was just about at hand, Snape had left the school to walk down to the gate, he dissaperated as soon as he was outside the school boundaries, to arrive minutes later in the small town of Godric Hallow. Snape sighed as he walked toward the small church located in the middle of the small town. He saw the elderly woman Bagshots as she puttered around in the garden of her small home. Snape walked over to the small fence where the old gate hung sadly. He touched the gate to see the old house still in ruins with many people leaving flowers and wishes for their peaceful rest in the after life. Snape looked sadly at the house, remembering that day thirteen years ago when he had ran into the house after learning that the Dark Lord had gone to take care of the small boy. Severus felt bitter tears leak down his face as he remembered seeing her lying dead in the baby’s room, her beautiful hair fanned out around her with her soft vibrant green eyes seeing nothing at all anymore. Snape cursed under his breath he walked away from the house to the church where he saw the statue appear of Lily sitting on a couch with James beside her and her young son sitting on her lap. He wanted to change the statue to show only Lily but it was something that Dumbledore had made in honor of them, and the life they had lost and their son torn apart from them so brutally. Severus walked to the back of the church after a few minutes of looking up at Lily in the statue. Snape stepped around all the familiar headstones of people’s names he recognized over the years, to the one head stone he only went to see. Lily Potter.

Snape brought his wand out giving it a small wave so a wreath of lilies and roses appeared in his hand. He laid this on the grave by her head stone.

“I’m sorry I was unable to make it here for your birthday, but I still wanted to give you something.” Snape told her softly as he looked at her headstone ignoring the one next to it with James name on it.

“I miss you Lily; I do wish you were here though to see your son compete in this Tournament. He’ll have to go underwater to bring his friend back within an hour. I have no clue; what he thinks he can do to survive under water for so long. I don’t even know if he can swim. I know he has gotten a late start on the task. I don’t know why though but at this rate unless he can come up with something amazing he’ll fail this task. It might be for the best the last one is going to be very dangerous indeed. But you probably don’t want to hear that do you my love. I best be going now, I have classes tomorrow morning and I’ll be seeing your son in class. Take care Lily, I as always love you more then I can express to you.” Snape blew a small kiss to Lily. He turned away from her headstone hurting once more at seeing her headstone knowing she was lying beneath him rotting into dust, at such a very young age, he himself was feeling very old now. With a small pop he was back at the castle gates to see Igor looking around the grounds for him. Snape slipped inside and hurried to the door so as not to be seen by him.

Severus was watching as they were all working hard to make their potion, he was watching Harry he knew the boy was doing a decent job of it, maybe not perfect, but fairly decent job considering some of the others in the class were making a right mess of this assignment. Snape walked around after a little while looking at everything and making a few comments about what people were doing. He asked them to bring up a flagon full of their potions to be graded with their name on it. Snape watched as Harry hurried up with his own, with Hermione and Ron with him. Severus said nothing as they hurried out of the room to their next class.

Snape then set about grading the potions, he gave Harry a lower grade then he deserved he knew but didn’t want anyone to think that he’d give him a grade he deserved when he was James son, not his own. When Snape was done grading he set about writing another letter to Lily, he told her about the flowers he left at her grave and how her son actually did a fairly decent job on his potion. He wrote how annoying it was to see Potter Stinks flashing constantly in the room; the glaring green was enough to give him a headache.
